ava is a veggie dog, the dw picked a bucket of yellow beans this morning, she has been snacking on them all day.......

her favorite is fresh spinach. when we go for i walk and i open the gate to the raised beds she goes right for the spinach have seen her eat a couple baby heads of lettuce as well...
who needs ranch dressing .......

My Cee Cee heads for the berries. Strawberries, blueberries, grapes, currants, etc. I know she will eat veggies, but they are not her first choice.

Your pup should live to a ripe old age on her vegetarian diet. My dog used to eat apples when she was a pup, but not anymore. Table scraps from the kids are much preferred.

Do birds bother your brussels sprouts too, Major? I noticed all of the tape strips around them. I've only dealt with bugs on mine.

both of my girls like they veggies as for fruit it's hit and miss....
the flagging orange flagging was 1st up, only reason it was put up was for a visual maker for deer and children to stay out...

read somewhere if you place colored markers the same as the plants flowers it would help bring in pollinators, cant say 100% if it worked the yellow flagging is the same color as the zucchini flowers, we did have lots of pollinators which turned out buckets of zucchinis.
guess i might try a trail next year in 2 separate areas one with flagging and the other without flagging and see if it does make an difference in pollination ...

Here in the land of overindulgence dogs are obese. The Vet try telling owners to cut back on dogfood and add raw vegetables for bulk.

the girls go to the dog park or go for walks with dw and dd at the city park couple times a week. and a good swim at least once a month...

well i have water babies...baby crimson sweet's, found 4 of them...

noticed while taking the girls for their morning patrol around the property that the tent caterpillars sure are in abundance and only in a weeks time at that...
just might torch them with the propane torch this evening......

did get up early this morning and started to do deep watering, decided to pick the bangkok peppers, got 4 trays worth...
once dried will send of them through the processor for pepper flakes...

was planning on doing some mowing and a couple things, that went right out the window, after last week sweating 10 hours a day, i mean 103* all day up in the ceiling hanging and wiring lights, and all the sweat ends up in your boots. have no energy to even think about doing anything except finishing up the watering....
having a couple beers and taking a couple well deserved naps..

do need to figure out how to get the mattress home from the holiday inn where i stay it's sooo comfy....

oh its so good to be home will be home for at least a couple weeks, with up coming personal appointments and a internal boiler inspection pending i am off the store
remodel till september, now you all know i love to kid around but holy compost i started to look around on how they have air lines ran around there osha every saw that they would be red tags....so yeah will be going down and plumbing it correctly..
anyway was talking with the dw last evening and the phone call dropped tried and tried p/m dd and she told me the power was out... dw called me this morning and told me that they had a all night major rain storm...
hows that for a total.....

she did tell me the driveway going to need some work... you think???
looks like a 12 ton load of crush and run to me...


and the lower part of the garden is a wash... but heck at least i do not need to water for a couple days...
after seeing this i am seriously thinking about going to raised beds in there as well......

the left trellis area you can not even see where the cucumbers were....

and on the back forty with all the rain it washed back another 5 feet where the roots are on the lower right is where is was, and thats a 7' drop to the bottom

Almost 7 inches!?! I guess that would be called a "MAJOR RAIN STORM". You may need to watch out for a major catfish invasion in the back yard. Must have had streams and waterways overflow somewhere near by.

While I wouldn't wish that kind of rainstorm on my worst enemy (my neighbor would enjoy it), I sure am glad it was "you not me" that has the clean-up. I am also happy that you will be closer to home for a while. No way would I want your DW to think she needed to make things right with you gone.

We have never had anything quite like that around here and Good Lord willing, we never will. We do live on high ground so a storm like that would be more likely to wash the neighbors' yard into our gully than wash us on down the road.

All teasing aside, I am sorry you and your DW have to go through the damage, the mess, and the clean up.

Wow, glad most of your garden appears to still be standing. I'm sure it will ultimately appreciate the deep watering this time of year. We've had a lot of trouble with washouts on my dad's gravel road on the farm and I've been researching what to do to permanently fix the problem. Dad scooping up the gravel with the front-loader and putting it back each time is futile. Appears we need some careful grading done and a new culvert put in. Never used to be a problem until the excessive rains we've had for about the past 4 years now. In the pics, your driveway appears to be mostly flat too. That is crazy.
