I grew this a few years ago, it was quite productive.

Only thing you have to concern yourself with is that, given it's short length and white skin, it is really easy to let the cuckes get too ripe.

the peas here where pretty much done and when the 1st frost hit that zipped what was left. going to plant on both sides of the soaker hoses this year in the watermelon patch this spring and fall.

I am starting. I am really wanting black tomatoes this year. I grew some black cherries last year and LOVED them. It was the first time I had had one and now I am wanting MORE! Anyone have a favorite I should try?

I grew Black Opal (cherry) last year for the first time I like it much better than Black Cherry. Although not black like Indigo Rose (more of a dusky brown) this one was bursting with flavor, I'll still grow Indigo Rose if nothing more it looks great in a Greek salad, and they stay firm, flavor is sort of ho hum but it's one I grow every year because of it's color.

One (completely personal) warning for black tomatoes, do NOT go for Purple Calabash. It tastes NOTHING like any other black tomato and the color takes some getting used to (unlike the normal dusky rose or dark pink with a green wash, PC is sort of bruise shade). And I REALLY don't like the tomato (I've heard people say it tastes like it's be marinated in red wine, or like Marsala sauce. To me it just tastes spoiled) PC is a rather odd tomato in many respects anyway (it's the only one I can differentiate from others from the SEEDS alone)

Speaking of blacks, Nagaraclang can be interesting, if you can find it (I got mine from someone on ebay who I don't think is there anymore) Supposedly it's the ideal tomato for you if you live somewhere where it's always rainy since the flowers shed water (I always joked I should plant it next to some Cheeseman's tomatoes (L. cheesemanii) which are supposed to be ultra drought tolerant on the grounds that t least ONE of them should produce something!)

I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but Black Sea Man is my absolute fave! It is a huge beef-steak type

OOOOhhhh, I forgot that one, haven't grown it for a couple of years, I must go look I'm sure I saved seed . You're right one of the best.

Cherokee Purple is my favorite. Makes the best home made chili you will ever eat!

The longest list will be the tomatoes. There can't be many garden veggies where having only a couple of plants can add so much to a gardener's season. Since I have the room for more than a few dozen plants, I might want more than just a couple of varieties. This is more than a couple !

I have an order in a shopping cart at Baker Creek. I am thinking of ordering the steam juicer and using the coupon. I cannot get my family to eat fruit fresh or in desserts, so I am thinking they can just drink their fruit. I have a couple of small orders here and there I am thinking about and adding to the list. Editing to add, the steam juicer at GURNEY'S, but I did not do it.
