The main reason - the growth were not able to get rid of the seed. The cotyledons are stuck in them. Stem began to grow rapidly, instead of opening the cotyledons. Therefore, seedlings stretched. Perhaps the light was not close enough. But that is secondary. The photo shows that the stems may produce lateral roots. This will help you to save them. You just have to pour the ground to the trunks as they grow.

The seedlings are stretching do to the lack of light, the lack of light is do to the seed coat being stuck to the cotyledons, the seed coat being stuck to the cotyledons can be do to a number of reasons.
  1. Age of seeds, I know you said that they were new seeds but were they bought from a good seed dealer?
  2. Soil moisture, To little soil moisture or soil drying out too often before watering can cause this.
  3. Humidity, Dry ambient air can cause this problem.
You could try a self watering tray and a humidity dome.

will get helmet head every now and then a little water on them wait about a hour and you can slip it off.
yes your lights are too far away.... 12-14 hours of light is needed and soil temp should be 70 *+ - 5 *
only water from the bottom and keep the soil moist.

t-5 lighting.....:thumbsup 4-5" away

Pull off the seed coat. It looks like you over planted. remove the longer seedlings and keep the shorter. What kind of plant is it? They may recover. It also looks like You could have planted them a little deeper. You may have keep them in the bag too long. I place a piece of plastic wrap over the soil. As soon as they seem to be sprouting I remove the plastic so they do not get elongated.
