Just wondering who here has seen hummingbirds already this year? I usually see them by April 15th, and that's Tomorrow! Nothing yet. I put a red table cloth on our patio table, near the feeder, just to catch their eye. Hope it works. The downy woodpeckers are taking over the feeders. They love that sugar water! They pull the yellow plastic flowers off the feeder so the hole is bigger, and they can get their little woodpecker tongue in there, I guess.

Lets just ignore Mary... haha

No hummers here yet either, but I did get my feeders hung out Tuesday with bright red strips of tshirt tied to the hangers. I thought I saw one buzz past the window, but it might have been my imagination and wishful thinking.

According to Journey North, they have been spotted as far north as Wisconsin and Vermont, but I haven't seen any here yet, either.

We have the Annas year round, they nest here in February. They just love cat hair for their nests if Percy our indoor girl only knew she was lining their nests . The Rufus hummers arrived the end of March, after mating the adult males move on or it seems so, we only see the odd male throughout the summer but we still see lots of the females and their young. We don't use much sugar ourselves but buy it by the 10lb bag for the hummers.

It was a Rufous that we had here till February, a few years ago. They aren't even seen here very often. In fact, that was the first one I had seen, I think. He was obviously lost.
