Looks like it could be a trap but I don't see any teeth. Not sure how it would hold anything if it was a trap.

Stop looking at hoof LOL look at upper left corner then down 2 inches
That thing that appears like a triangle surrounding the right rear hoof is organic vegetation growing out of the rock. If that isn't what you mean ... point an arrow to the spot ! :hu

It looks like a stuffed goat for some reason.

And it sort of looks like a trap. Many do not have 'teeth', body traps don't, they use shear clamping force to catch the animal.

It belongs to the subfamily Caprinae (goat-antelopes), along with 32 other species including true goats, sheep, the chamois, and the muskox. The mountain goat is the only species in the genus Oreamnos.

It DOES look like a mounted display. I'd bet that the 'thing' is part of the case.. or maybe holding another animal in place?????

It's a trap...a leg hold trap, possibly, though it looks like it may have teeth, and not a small one as one would use for small fur bearing animals, looks to be the outside edge of a wolf trap.

These next two are leg hold only.

This one is a little more lethal...

This goat is mounted and you can just see the paw of another animal in the display case below the trap...maybe wolf? The vegetation in the pic is not real.
