I used the steam juicer. :love:love I put about a gallon bag of elderberries in and in 1 hour I had 7 cups of juice. I will weigh the berries next time. I could not believe there would be that much juice. I made jelly and have 12 half pints of elderberry jelly. It was so easy. You can make vegetable broth for soups. I am going to do blackberries tomorrow and make 1 batch of jelly and then get some juice for drinking. I could can juice, but I might just make juice like every 4 days or so. One quart of juice and add a quart of water and can sweeter or add different juice for whatever flavor you want. I also used the rest of the cucumbers and made dill pickles using the water bath canner. I have 7 pints. About the same ingredients as the fermented one, but has vinegar. I also made lemon, raspberry, zucchini bread, 2 loaves.

Today I pulled a large handful of red potatoes out of one of my straw bales. Also picked a ripe "Chocolate" bell that looked nothing like a bell to me, and had been hiding in the pepper foliage, so I just saw it today.

Frankly I'm surprised that I have gotten even those little things out of this years garden. I may possibly get some peppers before frost, they have decided to grow and have lots of blooms.

I also picked and cleaned about a pound of purslane for green smoothies. It counts as garden produce since it was inside the fence.

Hey, I'll take it!

You are not supposed to swear in this site. Frost indeed.

We had BLT also for supper. I was so busy and did not stop and then realized how tired I was and I had been blanching, freezing, picking, chopping for FIVE HOURS! Lol. I made salad for lunch and soup to go with the BLT, and fried potatoes and onions. I do not get the amount of beans digitS or Major, but I have been getting about 2-1/2 to 3 pounds a day. The fermented dill pickles are now in the ice box, and even DD likes them.

I have never heard of a steam juicer. Is there a thread that I've missed?

It is amazing! I bought one and never used it until now. I have a lot of frozen raspberries, blackberries, elderberries and cherries in the freezer and I have got to do something, so decided if my kids will not eat berries, they will drink them. The first juice is really good. I will have to make more tomorrow or Monday. I put enough fruit in that I can make a batch of jelly and keep the rest of the juice to drink. I could just do this daily and can the juice and empty the freezer. It makes making jelly simple. I got mine from Gurneys when they had 50% off everything. http://www.gurneys.com/product/stainless_steel_steam_juicer/
