It was many, many, years ago and I have never let myself get in this condition again....
Back in the 70's I used to try impressing a couple of our friends with my culinary skills and they the same with us. You know fancy meals, good wine, lace tablecloth, good silverware, linen napkins la-de-dah, in napkin rings, crystal glassware, floral centerpieces, candles, you know the whole bit.
But I digress... one evening our friends who lived down island put on a wonderful Japanese meal along with sake warmed just right (my first experience with sake). Annette had one, then another, then another and another, hey they were tiny cups. When I tried getting up from the table I knew I was in trouble but managed to put one foot in front of the other and made it to the bed with no one the wiser.

The next morning it was decided to go down to the Oak Bay Marina for lunch, I was getting away with it until the waiter came to take our lunch orders, 3 ordered eggs benedict and when it came to me I ordered chicken soup and a glass of milk.

After lunch the three of them decided we would go down to sea world or what ever it was called to watch the killer whale do it's thing, I was in no condition to argue, I barely managed to keep up with them.

Annette was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time, guess who got drenched, absolutely soaking wet from the huge wave that came over the railing. I was standing way back but that didn't help. Hubby and friends looked at me in horror, all I could say was I feel much better now.

I have never allowed myself to get in that condition ever again, lesson learned.

Annette

I love having fancy dinner party. Get to use everything from the china cabinet. something always gets broke, but hey its a party.

I'm past that stage of my life now, just gave all my good china to #2 son, almost had a full set of Royal Albert Val Dor which has now been discontinued, daughter is getting my crystal. I'm perfectly happy with my Corelle ware, break a piece go to supermarket and replace, still into white though, no pattern.

You do know you can get replacement pieces from discontinued china. I think it's called Replacements, LTD? Maybe someone else will know the correct name.

Thanks Mary, he is already looking into that, you can also find pieces on ebay. I had a set for 6 plus teapot and other side pieces. I think he wants to bring it up to 8 settings.
