the worst i have even been in was -10 up at the in laws house.... wellsville ny..... made quick work of that cigarette every time...

having just spent a while reading through this thread... i hope i don't offend by asking if you are of Irish heritage? you look a lot like my best friend of years past (who's gone on to riding bike trips in the sky).

Speaking of Irish my mother made a wonderful dish she called Irish Stew. It had cubes of meat peas and carrots in a thick gravy. does anyone have a simple recipe for this

my very very great grandfather a couple hundred years ago....

Sounds a lot like Shepherd's Pie. All the ingredients in the stew covered in mashed spuds and baked in the oven.

@majorcatfish Keeper of the Privy Seal... sounds about right. :)

we may be distantly related then, as i am part Scots and English. one of my relatives traced us back to the 1600s. no claim to royalty anywhere. Mom's side. Dad's side is Italian.
