Garden Master
I had tried 2 or 3 others in the chicory family. (That is not counting dandelions, which Bay' enjoys 
.)
Witloof chicory -- too bitter.
Radicchio -- too bitter!
I have been eating escarole in my sandwiches at the garden. That's worked out since there was all this kale overwintered for soup and the lettuce didn't have a good start in the hoop house. Now, things can change a bit with the open garden coming along. Still, the escarole will be available for several more months.
