I was just thinking about making a couple mason bee houses. Also for some reason there are hundreds maybe thousands of ladybugs in our garden not sure why, but they are here.

the lady beetle populations go in cycles here, but i'm always glad to see them around. i can't imagine they are finding that many aphids as i hardly see any at all. they must be eating something though! :)

if you do this i hope you site it off in a corner where it won't be bumped or have people too close very often as those mason bees and others can be defensive.

the nest we had in the walls of the garden shed the mason bees were mad at me one day and were trying to sting me and from then on for a while later any other mason bee would come along and try to sting my shoe where the previous ones had tried. they can sting more than once (unlike the honey bees)... i did a lot of running away that day until they calmed down.
