I'm not sure if it would be safe to set off a firearm in my neighborhood. As much as I'd love to, I don't live out in the woods.

Been harvesting okra, eggplant, water spinach, chard, and snap beans for the last week. This is about 2 weeks earlier than usual. We froze 9 quarts of beans & 7 quarts of chard already; normally the harvest doesn't begin in earnest until August. Tomatoes & peppers are loaded, but only the grape tomatoes are ripening so far. DW made the first meal from the garden - pinakbet, a Filipino soup/stew with fresh eggplant & okra, frozen long beans & limas from last year, and kabocha squash that we had to buy. Its really good to be eating fresh veggies again, with a two months still left in the growing season.

We are having tomatoes and fried cabbage and bacon it is very good. I am thinking about making coleslaw and shredding up some kohlrabi’s to put in it also. Kohlrabi slaw is great on fish tacos if anybody here likes fish tacos besides me. We are flush with zucchini now also Angie is busy shredding and freezing it also have had zucchini fritters once so far.

We have had 1/2 a dozen beefsteak tomatoes, a handful of cherry tomatoes, made a pie from my cherry harvest (the rest is canned), and my friend gave me 13 of her cucumbers which will be pickles by the afternoon. My Romas and other tomato plants are covered with green fruit. DD wants to fry up green tomatoes soon, but too much salt for DH, so I told her to enjoy them with her sister.

Green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, blackberries, a little lettuce is still growing in a pot, a couple of squash maybe in a few days. Picked one and gave to DD.

Sweet Corn!
A little too early, one of mine was yellow as it should be, the other ear was more cream color. The kernels were small but sweet!
Something has eaten most of the silk. I suspect either earwigs or grasshoppers but didn't see either in the corn. Pleased to see the ears nicely filled out.

DW made zucchini lasagna with fresh zucchini and tomatoes. First time she tried making it, and it turned out great.
