I started some cantaloupe late in the season. Their at about 2-3 weeks, and theu are flowering. I just thinks it weird, mainly because there are no tassels, and the vines havent really started yet.

cantaloupes on avg need 80 days to mature, plus they really enjoy days of 80 +degrees and nights of 70+ any cooler they slow down.. and need 12+hours of full sunlight...... not knowing where you live<general area> would be helpful...

but if you take a really small paint brush like for artwork you could tickle each flower in helping of pollination....fyi there is an avg of 1 female flower to 12 male flowers...more the tickling the better...<waiting for the tickling part to be hijacked>..

also this late in the season need to watch out for powdery mildew, also cucumber beetles leak fleas, vine borers all of them are looking for a late summer snack...

wish you all the best and keep us posted on your melon outcome....

I live in missouri. But i did some research, not sure if its helping. But i let banana and orange peels sit in water. Some said it helps root growth, bug, and disease. The main thing that it has done is make it grow. Im at about 4-7 short vines on 26 of them. But i will definitely try the paint brush thing. Thank you.
