I’ve been peeking through the fence and non of my 7 neighbors garden! Well one of them does have fruit trees and an avocado but I should be fine. ;)

Just roasted a Honeynut and it was delicious! Very buttery and smooth. It seemed to cook faster too.

Seed, what did you mean by saying meat was drier?

I like that the seed cavity was also very small. But I only saw one tiny seed and it wasn’t worth saving.

If you roast a regular butternut, the squash has more water in it. So you get a “mushier” texture. According to write ups, honeynut has more beta carotene as well. Darker flesh makes that easy to believe.

I always sprinkle with olive oil, salt, and pepper and roast my butternut squash. Boy, this Honeynut is soooo good that I don't think I can ever eat the regular one again! I LOVE the sweetness! Everyone should grow it.

You've thanked me but it's you I should thank. I believe you mentioned it and I googled it. I couldn't believe I had a seed pack in my box. It was given to my daughter at an event. So we both got lucky.

Believe they were open pollinated. May buy fresh seed next year as I have regular butternut In same garden. Hate to have them cross pollinate. When I do, I can send you some seeds.
I was hoping to save seeds but so far I haven't seen any but maybe 1 super tiny one that may have been the start of one. Seed, do yours have good healthy size seeds?

Yes.

My problem is I have butternut 20’ away. Not sure if they have cross pollinated. Haven’t decided if I’m going to keep seeds or buy new. Where I buy new, I will have enough for years, so either way, I can repay your kindness and send some your way.

What does everyone think? Will bees cross pollinate them?

Thank you seed but today I found some at our local nursery and bought a pack. I should be set for awhile. I probably still have some from the package I sent you but I loved it so much that I grabbed them! haha

Do you buy them in bulk? If not, I can get you a couple packs. They were $3.99. Not sure how many seeds are in them but they are 2.25gm.
They are from Renee's Garden. renesgarden.com

I buy seed in bulk & then share with several people so no worries. Glad you found some.

I like the fact that one makes a decent size side dish with no left overs.
