Meanwhile, here's what we've been up to.

Syringas first meeting with moose. She was calm and curious. Since then they have been 10 feet from her pen, and she just kept eating her hay. But I know what was going through her mind - - - go ahead moose chick, just try and go for my hay! This girl is serious about her food.

Yesterday I worked on saddling her. Didn't get the girth buckled yet, working on that this week. She didn't jump around and dump my saddle so I stopped while we were ahead.

This might be a little nerdy, but while I was coming back from our walk today I noticed her hoof prints in the road. The round hoof is her front, the oval one is her rear. See how she steps up so well under herself and reaches past her front hoof print with her rear? That's a good thing. :)

I thought the fact that she could make a snowman with her prints was a good thing. Thought it was also an omen that snow was coming. :p

You're right on both, I sense she has that creative "artsy" gene, and snow will definitely come, haha.

A few days ago my friend and I thought it was a good time to get Syringa in a trailer again. It's been over 3 months since she last rode in one and has had a lot of groundwork and many successes in the meantime.

I thought she might show some resistance and take awhile to load up, but she surprised me and after standing at the door sniffing the floor, put her first hoof up, then the next and then all four. I let her stand quietly then backed her out one step at a time. Though she was tense and a little nervous she loaded and unloaded 3 more times calmly so we decided to haul her and my friends mustang over to the state park for a walk.

She rode quiet, unloaded calmly and then hesitated just for a moment before loading back up when we came back to the rig after our walk.
Yay Syringa! :)

Victory! That is a deeply satisfying accomplishment. She trusts you and that is a gift to be treasured. That looks like a nice place to ride too.

Syringa got an early Christmas present.
She'd like to model it for you. :p

And just because I nearly cut it off, a look at her mane.

If she could talk she'd probably say she'd rather have a bale of hay than a new bridle, but I like it.
