The traditional January Gardening Fever has begun. Only, this time I'm not the only one! My husband and son also caught the fever to get planting.

Thankfully, due to the WONDERFUL gift my husband got me in 2017, we can start plants just fine in my greenhouse! Last week we swept, cleared out dead plants, and spent a fun evening together picking out seeds and planting them. Today, we potted up the plants as they were poking out of the root riot cubes.

My son wanted to help with the potting up!

He stuck with it almost the whole time I was out there, and decided to leave about the time my husband came in to help. It's kinda crowded in there with 3 people.

She wasn't interested in gardening, but she was willing to eat some "lamb's ear" hahaha!

Our little Rin has been growing too. She is now 14 pounds, and she can roll over, sit up with assistance, grab things, and put eeeeeeeverything into her mouth. She likes going hiking with me and being outdoors, so I hope she'll also get the gardening bug. We'll see!

So we did a big thing and ate canned vegetables for the first time today. Our canned vegetables that is. Every year I can all the excess food, and then never touch it ever in case high-pressure canning it to death somehow was not enough to get rid of the possible botulism. I took a canning course and I still get nervous.

Well today we ate some canned peppers, and we did NOT die. ^.^

Yet anyway.

You are so funny! Canning your food to death and not eating it for fear of botulism!:lol::lol: So you finally took that HUGE step of eating your own food! Are you feeling sick yet? :gig

My wife makes our bread and butter pickles with the dishwasher and a boiling pot of "picklestuff". Nothing special except a long slow cool down where the jars are together and covered with a thick cloth. Fascinating process.

Oooh @Dirtmechanic I have so many recipes from my grandma on pickles, but never actually did it. How on earth do you make pickles in the dishwasher?!

@baymule Nope, we're all fine! Ate them for lunch again and all was well. Then again, I don't personally get food poisoning--my family does though. My mother's cooking has given me a stomach of steel.

That being said, I don't want my son to be barfing everywhere, or my husband, and we've certainly never had botulism.

:) Just use the dishwasher to sanitize and preheat the glass jars and lids. Clean, Clean, Clean!
