Trash is pollution. Burning trash releases compounds with high global warming potentials. Landfills release greenhouse gasses. It is connected.

i'd say some trash can be pollution, but not all... depends upon how it is treated. in the type of incinerators that most people use to burn trash the temperatures are very high to reduce or eliminate many of the problem compounds that happen. for your typical back yard burner of trash they rarely accomplish this kind of burn and it does release a lot of crud that is better off not done.

the landfills that release a lot of methane can be capped and that methane collected and burned as source of heat/energy/electricity.

i think the practice of landfilling is very wrong like many of our current practices... instead we should be requiring packaging to be 100% compostible and all products to be recyclable. tax things to the extent that they are not recyclable and put that money into developing the production chain needed to reduce and eliminate the trash completely. it can be done - just has to be a will to do it.

It got up to about 65 here yesterday. The Ex came over from the Coast and set fire to three of our huge burn piles from last year. He mowed, I pulled weeds, and the place looks alot better for me now. Even the dogs were happy to be rolling in the freshly mowed grass.

Yesterday was sunny and in the high fifties, just a few fluffy white clouds in a beautiful blue sky.
I got a start on my farmer tan. I took Syringa over to a neighbors arena for a free gallop and just sat in the sun for and hour and a half watching her enjoy herself and chatting with my little neighbor buddy who came out and sat with me.

Meanwhile the mountains are still loaded with snow.
Kid#1 sent me a picture of him and friends enjoying themselves.
He and girlfriend are on the left.

My garden also has a ways to go before it's gardenable.

I tried to work outside yesterday - 30 degrees. I lasted one hour, till the wind kicked up, then I retreated indoors and admitted defeat. I still moved some seedlings into larger containers and planted more seeds.

One hour is a bit of time ~ how long do you usually work out ```

The channel 7 weather app on my phone says it is 49*, feels like 47* & mostly cloudy. On the daily forecast (same app) at this time it is supposed to be 56* and mostly sunny. HA!

It was cold here today too, lows in the mid 40's, high in the 60's with no rain. The same is forecast for tomorrow, but then it warms back up to lows in the 60's and highs in the upper 70's to 80 for several days with rain.

I know it is April 1st but I took these earlier today, no fooling.

Bean Flower.jpg

A BlueJay bush bean flower. There are only a few so it will still be a while before I'm eating fresh green beans. Really looking forward to that. Fresh green beans are hard to beat.

Cherry Tomato.jpg

Then a cluster of Sweet Millions cherry tomatoes. Getting closer.

This one is an Early Girl. It has some growing to do. I saw a different one is just setting on.

Greens.jpg

Then a look at kale and chard. We'll have fresh cooked greens this week.
