Well, I haven't been doing much in the garden lately. We have had our house on the market for around 5 months, and we are finally under contract to sell thank goodness. For about 3 weeks now we have been moving, and selling, and moving and sorting. My wife has been boxing up things we didn't need right now and transferring them to the barn at the farm. She's also been weeding out what we didn't need and selling them at yard sells, and the flea market. We are due to close at the end of April, hopefully things will get back to normal here soon. Its sort of bitter sweet, I spent 15 years re-modeling this house, watched my kids grow up running up and down the halls, I know we are on to better things but leaving lots of memories behind.

ANYWAY....I did break out the tiller yesterday and attempted to bust up the tomato and pepper garden. This is the spot I rolled the hay bail out on last fall, and added all the chicken brooder waste to. I feel it did do as I expected, but I still had to move some of the thicker mat off the ground before the tiller would really do its job. Once I got down to the dirt, it had taken on a darker appearance and it actually feels less dense, if that makes sense. Once I got the dirt to the consistency that I like with the Tiller, closer inspection shows a lot of solid material still left to decompose present in the soil. Im anxious to see what the tomato's and peppers do this year.

Oh yea, everything that I had started from seed.....gone. Burnt everything up, just not paying attention and left them on the heat mats to long. I got all my tomatoes and peppers restarted last night, everything else will be direct sowed in the garden.

This is what it looked like when I started...

A round or two across the top with the tiller, I moved the thicker mat off with the pitch fork....

If you look real close you can see the grass and hay clippings left to decay....

Oh I about forgot about this......Take a look at this beauty. Found this while fetching water for the chickens. Right on the edge of the big garden, walking with my head down, almost stepped on it. Buddy of mine hunts arrow heads in this area and said it was quarts crystal and between 8,000 and 10,000 years old and worth $100 bucks and inch. Said it was more for show and used for ceremonial purposes. I give it to my wife, she's having a necklace made out of it. Thought it was pretty cool.

You have some beautiful dirt going there. I can appreciate that because of our fine sugar sand, it takes a lot of amendments. I can relate to frying the plant starts. Sometimes things just happen.

Selling your house! That is a big deal, full of happiness and loss at the same time. You are moving on to a new phase in your life. You may have raised your kids in that house, but now you can be Grandpa on the farm for your grand kids. I can tell you, it's pretty darn fantastic. LOL

I love the arrowhead. It's beautiful. Your farm has given you a precious gift, a sign, if you will, of welcome. You are home.

You right Bay, when my grandson is at the farm, he can just run and roam, ride his 4-wheeler and kind have a sense of freedom. Nothing over here is going to bother him, long as he stays in the gates. There's all kinds of adventures he can have. We just had one yesterday, went fishing in "our" creek, of course the water is still to cold for there to be fish this far up right now, but he doesn't know that Lol. He's already told me on more than one occasion 'Papa, Im gonna be needing me a horse". I told him when your old enough to do chores on your own, I'll get you that horse Lol.
