Tell you what. Go dig in 4’ of butter and get back to me.

If I’m digging 3-4’ down and 1-2’ wide for 30+’, I’ll trench. People can call me lazy, I’m good with that.

i've done it here in rock hard clay deeper than that for 50-100ft for several projects... then i've had it all ready to go for putting down the draintube and had it rain heavy enough to slump it all in to where i had to dig it back out with a trowel (because it was faster than scraping each shovelful off the shovel). i was barefoot too. much fun... :) very glad when that last project was finished.

i like the exercise of digging when i can do it. not much major digging planned here any more, but i'll have some gardens to get ready for spring planting that i didn't finish last fall so those are going to need some prep over the next few weeks.

Fired up the tiller and give the tomato/pepper garden another run through. Also broke new ground on this years corn field. It might be 15' wide and 60' Long, just enough to get maybe 8-10 rows. Big garden is just now starting to dry out enough to get the tractor into. They're calling for rain again this weekend, I'd like to start getting rows Layed off for my cucumbers, squash and Zucchini.

Thanks Bay.

Well, we have everything moved out of the house, except for the bed and TV. We officially render the keys to the new owners Thursday. It has been over 3 years since my wife and I set out to reach this point we are in right now. We will be living on our farm full time beginning Tuesday, we are both super excited.
I was on vacation last week, getting a new water line ran to the barn, and to the camper. I've got to do some plumbing in the barn to accommodate the washer, and run a new 220 outlet for the dryer. New septic system will be in place in a week or so. Every things moving Slowly but surely.

Oh yea, I did get some stuff done in the garden too, Pics coming when they sprout....

Now this is a trenched water line.....

Congrats on becoming full time farmers tomorrow! I'm excited for you. We retired and moved to 8 acres, moving day was February 14, 2015, our 19th anniversary. We had a doublewide to move into, so we were a little ahead of your starting point. LOL

Those water line trenches are a beautiful sight. We had ONE water faucet attached to the front of the house and ONE water faucet attached to the back of the house. I dragged water hoses and toted buckets for a year. Having a faucet at the horse barn, the sheep barn and the garden is a pure luxury.

Y'all are off and running on your adventure!
