Thank Goodness it is GONE. It has been gray, cold and wet, wet, wet. The Mississippi River has been out of it's banks for the longest EVER and last night broke through the temporary flood barrier flooding MORE of downtown Davenport, River has yet to crest. PLEASE May, be a better month!

Carol, does the flooding impact your job? Didn't you say you live about 12 miles from the river? Hopefully on higher ground. We have floods in Cape Girardeau pretty often, being right on the river, but I live far enough away that it doesn't impact me personally. We have had the lower areas and especially south of town that have been under water for months. A couple of weeks ago a guy called and said there was a bunch of swans on the flooded area. Swans? Lots of swans?
We had to go see for ourselves, and drove down to that area. Turns out they were white pelicans! Many white pelicans. That was more exciting to me that swans, I think.
Who knew they migrated through this area? Not me!

We have a swan pair that returns each spring to some wet land areas near Scott Co. Park, about 4 miles from here. I drive by them every day on my bus route. The flooding is not affecting me or my route. But some drivers have roads in the area under water from the Wapsi , A tributary of the Mississippi. There are often pelicans on the Mississippi river especially near the look and dams. Yesterday one of our drivers reported seem a flock of them on the Wapsi. Can't say that has happened before.

Davenport was on the news last night, showing the flooding. I am glad that you are ok, it would be miserable to go swimming in your house.

Hurricane Harvey put 7 feet of water in my sister's house, they and their dogs were rescued from the 2nd story window. It's not the first time they flooded, but it was the worst. Each time, they get the house remodeled and new furniture. It's probably a half million dollar house on 3 acres, with a swimming pool, 1500 square feet of covered deck, a pond, real nice place. But I sure wouldn't have it. I have begged her to move because one of these days she is going to be too durned old to go though all the headaches of floods. I'll just sit here in my doublewide, happy trailer trash. :rainbowflower
