I have this old pine stump that I had cut down last year. It's been dead about a year now. I just put some stump out stuff. It says that it will take about 10 weeks to rot out the stump. I was wondering if I used it and maybe wet it ever so often and keep it covered with a green plastic bag. Would it make it rot faster?? I want to get rid of this sucker!!

I have no idea, but I have five stumps, so I am watching the thread !

My concern is what happens to adjacent plantings. Any clue?

I may even put some buttermilk on the stump often too. I heard it will help decay it. Any advice??

Heard products like draino help. Putting 28% nitrogen will also help as it gives the microbes energy to break the fiber down.

Another option for the less patient is renting a stump grinder. (Home Depot here has them.) It's quite a lot of work, but it gets them below ground level fairly quickly. Eventually it will rot under the ground and you'll have a hole to fill, but at least you can rake it smooth immediately. This works best if you've recently cut the tree down. Old stumps may be very, very hard.

I imagine it would make it rot faster. Go out with an axe every so often and hack away at it so the rotted part is knocked off to expose the good wood.
There is another thread here somewhere from a week or so ago discussing the different ways to do this.

I've been soaking it with water ever so often. I hope it rots it good. I want to get rid of it real bad cause it is right in the middle of my front yard. I want to level out the yard and plant grass.I may look into a stump grinder. But I am real cheap. LOL

Update on the stump. I guess that stuff does work. I was digging around the stump and I have a baby sledge. And when I get to a root I would hit it with it and it would shatter it. I can tell it has been rotting it out. But outside of the stump is still hard. I didn't get to water it down like I was planning. It gets real hot here in Texas. But everything under the dirt is rotting. So I'm gonna see if I can pull that sucker up today. If I can't I'll just use my axe and chop away. So yeah I guess it does work. If I have to do another I'm going to keep that thing wet and probably cover it with a tarp, Maybe throw some dead weeds in it.
