What sweet corn do you use?

I started my corn indoors early March, about 15 yellow (sorry but the pack is out in the garden stapled to a stake) Then 2 weeks later about 15 white, 2 more weeks 15 more yellow, ect. A total of 4 indoor plantings.
I moved them to greenhouse when then had each reached about 3".
About May 7 I planted all of the starts in the garden, with the largest being about 18".
Two days later I direct planted the remainder of my seed, about six 20' rows.
Hopefully this stagger planting will space out my harvest.
We hardly ever boil our corn. Grilled is GoooD!!!

I'll be harvesting sweet corn in about 2 weeks.

We planted it the 20th of January.

We always plant the 'sugar & cream' variety... it's white and yellow and very sweet.

& if I'm lucky, I'll be planting sweet corn in 2 weeks.....am I envious.

I didn't know there were other varieties other than Sliver Queen. Growing up it was either yellow or white corn. My mom's family is a die hard white corn fanatic, my granny let me go get the seed one year and I asked the local guy what it was called. He told me Sliver Queen. I have planted it every year since I was "allowed" to plant in the family garden. Fresh corn, vine ripe tomatoes, and cucumber and onions soaked in vinegar, mmmm I feel like I'm 6 years old again picking in the garden with my granny. I get hot and sweaty and the red clay is mushing between my toes. I get to play in the water hose (to wash off) before we go in the cook the corn to freeze. Fry some fatback and cut the corn off the cob to cook it up. Yummy!!! What wonderful memories........Sliver Queen Corn for me please.

Yeah, I pick it earlier than you do--milk stage. By the time it gets really textured then most of the sugar has turned to starch and I can't bear to eat it, too pasty. We grill corn occasionally, unwrap the shucks but don't peel them all the way off, then remove silk and replace it with, oh, something nice like chili powder butter and lime juice, then wrap the shucks back up and tie with a piece of twine, and grill the whole thing.

Since I've never done it (watched Food Network do it) any and all suggestions are welcome. I'm hungry for it now and it'll be months before I have any to eat out of garden. I refuse to buy it in stores (my wife does and I won't touch it) that I know came from slave labor countries.

We used to peel the husk back, take out the silk, and pull the husk back over the ear. Then we would soak it for a few hours, then cook it on the gas grill. Peel back the husk again and wrap it with paper towels to form a handle. Then plunge the ear in to a container of melted real butter and salt :D

No idea what variety of corn mom used. We got it at a "you pick it" farm near our house. It was yellow.

Wow, you are killing me. That's like corn porn. :drool I planted my corn on Sunday, it hasn't even sprouted yet. Grilling it is really good. We don't do it often enough though.

I like my sweet corn "poppy" and juicy...can't stand when it converts and gets gummy..... :sick

I boil the water here and drop it in but for no longer than 3 minutes. Three minutes is just enough to heat it but not overcook it.....the best!!! Try it and you will never go back to boiling it for longer than the three.

You can also nuke corn by wrapping a damp paper towel around an ear and cooking it for 30 sec. - 1 min. and then apply your seasoning. Its good but not as good as the parboiling.

I usually plant Ambrosia but am trying Peaches 'N' Cream this year.
