My cool weather garden

Horribly jealous of you, Miss P. This week, I had to dig up a few of my cold-weather seeds to see if they had pipped or rotted. They pipped, but they didn't do anything else in three weeks...and now the migratory birds are back in town.

Good looking soil! My rhubarb is just now showing a little green. "How high is your rhubarb?" That's a farmer greeting I've heard :lol:

With all the hail, wind, the recent snow . . . I was surprised how warm it feels outdoors, today. Of course, it won't take much heat to make the outdoors feel warm to me. So far this year, 52F has been the highest temperature. It's supposed to start goin' up t'morree . . .

We had to burn the wood stove yesterday. It was cold! Tomorrow will be 75. Go figure. And it has rained for a week.

Lot of rain here and then cold but it was 65 here today and is supposed to be really nice tommarow.

WOW!!! That looks great. I can't wait to get in my garden. The weather here in Iowa just is not cooperating yet. Rain, rain, rain for the next few days. Maybe if I think sun it will help :coolsun

Hmm... maybe I could plant my cold crops too when my rhubarb comes up too! Dang slugs will probably eat everything...

Put out some hydrated lime. Often it will keep things from getting your plants. Take a tin can (or coffee can) and punch some holes in the side and secure it to a stick like a shaker and put the lime out down the rows. We do it here to help deter the groundhogs and things that eat the new plants. When it rains you'll have to do it again. I use sevin for the insects.

I am so jealous! Our garden (we're in the North Woods of Wisconsin) is still covered in snow and we're supposed to get another 8-14" tonight/tomorrow. Sigh. Here's to growing season of more than 90 days!!!
