What to do with this broken birdbath? Updated 6-9-11 thanks

Last fall I asked DH to move birdbath into garage for safe wintering. He picked it up by the bowl (With out unscrewing it from base) and the collar broke of the pedestal. :rant When I set it out this spring I thought I might be able to GLUE the pieces back and use it. No real Luck. I will use the bowl as a ground level birdbath. So... My thought is to chip off the remainder of the collar and put a pot in the base and grow some vining follage/flowers. Any Suggestion on what to plant in it?

what about setting a fuchsia on it? something that hangs down nicely would be pretty w/ that copper colored pedistal.

You could plant Creeping zinnia (sanvitalia ), my favorite :), and bacopa and alyssum, and verbena and sweet potato vine and creeping jenny and million bells..... and fuschia!... And More!
Or you could make it an herb planter with tri-color sage, vareigated oregano (as the spiller), thyme, tarragon, basil...And More!...

Hey! you could have fun with this!

Maybe try some of that JB Weld or that other 2 part putty stuff (comes in a tube, can't think of the name of it). That might be strong enough to hold it together.

Yes, you could plant all kinds of things in there, or, you could use it as a base for a gazing ball....or some other garden ornament. Let us know what you decide...

Journey suggested JB Weld and I agree, it's pretty good stuff. I fixed a little iron or some kind of metal (?) bird bath that a friend was throwing out and it held up well, until I accidentally knocked it over.
I've used it for all kinds of stuff since then. If you still have all the pieces it would be worth a try.

if you did decide to turn it upside down and bury part of it in the ground to make it stable, you could put the basin back on it and still use it as a bird bath! it would just be shorter than it was!
