Such situations happened to me too. If I didn't have other seeds, I sometimes sowed those with holes left by weevils. One or two holes do not affect germination as long as the embryo has not been damaged.

@heirloomgal, you collected beautiful seeds. I'll probably start taking photos of my bush beans this weekend. I shelled all the pods. The seeds were already dry enough to freeze briefly. I always do this and that's why I don't know what a bean weevil is.

@Branching Out Such damage occurs when, after a long period of drought, the beans receive too much water at once. The center of the seed swells rapidly and the coat splits.

It seems that some Catalan beans are too late for our climate. Only now is my Floreta fully forming pods. It's hard, I won't give up, I'll think of something to collect nice seeds in the future.

@flowerbug I'm sure it's some kind of disease, probably phytophthora. The stems were brown inside. This may have been due to the quite intense rains that fell throughout the week. The soil was soaked like a sponge. It appears that some varieties are more resistant to it than others.

I was fishing for Tunny today :)
