    Your Weather, 2021

It’s been in the 90s with 60% humidity and a dew point of of 75. Not nearly as nasty as most summers but still kinda miserable. We have finally gotten a break for the rain though. It took like 4 days for the puddles to dry out finally.

    Price increases and shortages

We keep it but it’s because we use it often. Corn bread, frying things, tamales... but like the others said I wouldn’t unless will use it. Otherwise you would probably be better off sticking up on flour if you use a good bit of it. Flour can be frozen and lasts forever in the freezer

    Scammers

I don’t really trust anything anymore. I didn’t get any spam texts until the same day I signed up for usps updates on a package. Got the first spam text about my “missing package” less than 48 hours later. Had never gotten a spam text to this number in the past... idk 7 years I’ve had it.

    Your Weather, 2021

We got a whole 48 hours without rain last week but now it’s back again. We’re already over average rain total for the month again. Just got and inch in 20 minutes just from a regular pop up thunderstorm. We’ve gotten 44% of our average yearly rainfall during the first 3 months of our drier...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

I did that this year and mine still dried pretty well. Admittedly I set mine up in front of a fan for a good part of the drying time though so I’m sure that helped.

    Microwave ... caput !

We’ve had poor luck with microwaves too. The old one we had for 5 years before all the coating peeling off the inside. Now the new one is starting to show signs of peeling around the edges. It’s only 3 years old. Admittedly I think it was the cheapest 1100watt Walmart had at the time so I should...

Will pumpkins split from to much rain?

I have a pumpkin that is just about ready to pick but we may be getting a bunch of rain tomorrow on already saturated soil. Does anyone know if they split like watermelons or am I worried for no reason.

    Your Weather, 2021

I’d gladly send some rain your way. We had a rare dry day yesterday but we had a store blow in around 5 this evening and we got about 3/4 of and inch in 30 minutes. We’ve also got another storm that’s supposed to move in later tonight. The photo is of the storm that blew in earlier.

    Price increases and shortages

Meats been insane here. Ground beef is $4 or $5 a pound and so are chicken wings. Whole chickens were much cheaper for once though and were about $2 a pound. The single serving containers of yogurt are all $2 or more after tax. This is just what I’ve noticed this week and we are in an area...

Would You have this in Your House?

I don’t have a problem with it. If it’s well made and fairly cheap why not? I can still tell the time on it.

What Did You Do In The Garden?

Regardless of whether or not I can get the borer I always make sure mine have an area of disturbed soil to root in since most seem to make it if they can set out roots. The first round of borers don’t have a significant impact on my plants and rarely kill them because of this. Usually they just...

    Your Weather, 2021

Got a 1/4 inch overnight and the system brought a cold front with it so we will probably stay in the 70s with pretty dry air. Great weather for the 4th but very very odd for here. Normally we’d be in the 90s with very high humidity.

Anyone else’s neighbors constantly set off fireworks around Holidays?

I will say I don’t mind people setting off fireworks on the holiday or even the day before and even go to see the display in town some years. Its the people that set them of for a week or more that annoy me. One of our dogs hate them along with any similar noise luckily most of our neighbors are...

Anyone else’s neighbors constantly set off fireworks around Holidays?

The neighbors here started setting off fireworks last weekend and will probably start up again tonight or tomorrow depending on weather and will probably set them off for a few more weekends. New Years is often worse since people are off for work for longer. Some start setting off fireworks a...

    World garden outreach?

On BYC I’ve seen several active users from India, Kenya, and I think 1 each from Japan and South America. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a poster from China or the Middle East on either site though. Those are also prime spots for internet restrictions though. I’ve also seen a surprising number of...

    Artichoke Lover’s 2021 Garden.

Haven’t gotten much of anything done earlier this week because of the rain and didn’t do anything today because I ran out of time. I went blueberry picking in the morning and ran out of time before church in the evening. I haven’t had the time or the energy to weed and it’s getting depressing...
