I too am waiting for a break in the cold/rain/snow flurries to plant my potatoes. I think I am zone 5B. We're the only county I know of that has 3 officizl USDA zones in it. lol
I waited too long to get blue potatoes this year VFM. I could have gotten some but it would have cost over $10 for a...
Remove any dead canes BELOW ground level if possible to discourage disease. Then trim the tips on any canes that are growing to about 36". During the season you can trim the tips of the growing canes to encourage lateral growth.
We are expecting some flurries here too and I am not covering anything. If it gets really cold the tips of the iris may turn brown but they will be fine.
I have Russian banana fingerlings sitting here right now growing "eyes" and waiting for a break in the weather. This is my first year for these so I hope they are as great as you all say they are! My Yukon Golds and Pontiac Reds are sitting here too...<sigh>...more cold rain/snow showers in the...

Also corn doesn't really do well as transplants. It should...
I'm gonna' go with Penn Sate and hold mine for a couple weeks before I put them out. I'm afraid if I lose them I won't be able to get more in time for this year....call me chicken.
I think I must miss the point with this upside down thing. If you are going to use a pot why not just plant it in the pot normally and allow it to trail over the side? :hu
