I guess I'm a freak as I love our Yarrow. It's a great flower for smaller beneficial insects and a good Ladybug plant.
Like Tutter, I also use the fresh leaves to help wounds heal quicker (after washing the cut/wound first). It helps to staunch/stop the flow of blood in cuts/wounds.

Our favorite is the Lady Banks rose as it has no thorns and is very easy to grow, plus it blooms early in the season and the small blossoms are lightly scented. It's a great climber, too.
Ours started out as a rooted cutting in a plant trade two or 3 years ago.
You can see pix of ours here...
Nasturtium leaves are also edible. We love using them like you would lettuce, on sandwhiches and in salads. They have a wonderful tangy/spicy flavor to them.
If you want flowers, make sure that the soil you plant them in isn't too rich and fertile. I've had the best luck with them in our...

Leaves and stem...
The whole plant...
The stems/stalks are square and a bit hairy/fuzzy and it resseds itself each year. The flowers aren't scented, neither is the foliage. The bees and humminbirds love it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm so glad you asked about this, Dixiedoodle, as I'll be attempting my first Lady Banks rose cuttings tomorrow. :fl
Thanks to those of you who replied. :hugs I'll be trying several of the methods to see which works better for me.

I'd love to trade some rose cuttings with you! Will get the cuttings started tomorrow (after I do my research, as I've never tried it before).
Hi SG,
Finally found the pic of the trellis Skip built for me/the rose last April. I was absolutely amazed how just how big it has gotten in just a...
You're so Welcome!
I added some of the Lunaria blooms to a bouqet for my Granny. She asked what they were so I told her and she said, "I didn't know that the Money Plant had flowers." I replied, "Where do you thing the Silver Dollars (as she calls them) come from, they are the seed pods." We...
Could they be Springtails?
I was cleaning under the rabbit hutches yesterday and must have disturbed thousands of Sow bugs/pill bugs...the chickens ate good. ;)

Thanks Pat! :hugs
It is Star of Bethlem. I must have spread the bulbs, unknowingly, as they are coming up in odd places in the front bed. The first ones bloomed in a large clump of Lemon Balm and I knew the flowers didn't belong to the LB. LOL
I love our Lady Banks and wish I could have made...
I planted more container gardens today. We're up to:

Just wanted to share some of our blooms with everyone! I'll keep adding pix to this post as the yard blooms.

silkiechicken,
I forgot to add in my prior post that I use coffee filters (100 for $1.00 from the Dollar Store) placed inside of the rolls to keep the soil mix from falling out of the bottom.
patandchickens,
I've made newspaper pots also and don't care for them either...they fall apart too...
Last week I planted 3 different types of garden peas and some different greens for us, the chickens and the rabbits.
Noticed our first sprouts in all the containers today!!!:clap

I use tiolet paper rolls for staring seeds of plants that don't like being transplanted and have had nothing but positive results. The rolls don't break down very fast in drier conditions, but they do break down eventually. I use this method especially to give gourd seeds a head start in the...
When we first moved to our rented slice of country heaven, there was a raised bed (approximately 4' x 8') attached to the east-end of our front porch. Our second summer here, I convinced Skip that it would be a good spot for a cold frame since it gets a decent amount of sun from some southern...
