That sure IS poison Ivy! I can spot that stuff a mile away! Make sure you wear gloves when removing it, and do NOT burn! Its a very nasty plant that the devil put here!
You can spray a herbicide on it like Roundup- and make sure its for WOODY vines. You can even cut it and brush some on...
No it will NOT. A gourd is hardshelled, UNLESS you get the small ornamental types. There is a luffa gourd that is long & skinny--you peel off the shell to make scrubbers.

I used to work for a garden center, and we tested the "old" seeds every year. The germination rate goes down after a couple years but they should still be viable.
1) I would try it--chances are they would be as good.
