These grow ALL over our property. Small bright pink flowers followed by this fruit. The flowers almost look like currant flowers, which makes me worry that this is a dangerous doppleganger.
I had 3 or 4 per vine on my orangelo's last summer. And the moment they got ripe my guineas flew over the tall fence and pecked them all so I came home to cracked melons... and the ones that werent ripe had beak gouges all over... Not happy.
I refuse to put chemical in my garden, but we have SO many thistles in our pasture, and my gma says that she used to inject one or two thistles with it and the entire network would fall over dead. I think I need to try this.
We farm roughly 100 acres. DH rotates corn, wheat, and soybeans, plus we have hay acres in there. The pasture supports 20-30 head of cattle. We have a flowing well, which, yes, has to be pumped to the house via electricity, BUT, it flows into the wellhouse out back without power, and sits in...
Um, me? If I weren't required to adopt a religious belief that I do not believe in I would pack up my kids and move 5 miles over to the closest Amish community tomorrow. Screw the man, screw the grid.
OMG we make this weekly at our house! But I didnt know I could can it. I usualy just roast 1 lb tomatillos, then puree them with cilantro, garlic, peppers, and salt. We put it on EVERYTHING. It's called "The Green Stuff" in our house and at my dad's in WY :) I'm so stoked, my dad's GF will...
If you could be sure to cover everything at night you might do ok. The red desert causes daytime temps to soar, and nitetime temps to plummet. So, you'd have enough warm days to get growth, but you'd have to defend against all those frosty nights. I used to live 1.5 hours from Evanston. its...
I like to lay on my tummy to look at them, so I take pics that way too... I'm wierd and maybe love my baby plants a bit too much...
I have a lot of other stuff but the pics didn't take as well, or I ran out of time b/c DH came in from spraying corn (have a i mentioned how I loathe his GMO...
Our soil is actually terribly clumpy and grey this year, but thank you!
Normally there are no clumps ever, its like black velvet. I think its because we went from soaked to hot in a day or two and it caused a hard crust... I've been praying for a good soaking rain just once so I can go out...
Well thanks to our late spring everything is a bit behind, but its growing none the less!
Peas
Wax Beans
my weedy onion forest
Hutterite Soup Beans
One of the few survivor tomato seedlings.
Oh oh update on this cutting!
Last week I was able to remove the adult leaf, because it has 6 babies coming up! The biggest is now 3/4 inch tall! It took a LONG time but its exciting to see the results!
