    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

No, ground cherries are Not the same as tomatillos. The crew at Mid American Gardener recommend growing ground cherries bc they are easy to grow and taste very sweet. You grab and eat as you work in the garden. I grew tomatillos once and they are more bitter and better for Mexican dishes.

    Weed exterminators

Wild onions are only really edible right now. When they get bigger throughout the summer they become tough and inedible. I know. I have tried this.

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

It is interesting what you learn from what people put out there, although I question the "remarkable vegetable that SAVED Americans during the Great Depression." My maternal GF was laid off in the early 30's in Cleveland. He was a journeyman. He and other neighbors hunted rabbits...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

Sunday, I dug out about 6 red (or yellow) tulips that had jumped the border, and dug out the clump of purple tulips in another location. I put them in 2 buckets and they sat practically in the dark on the basement counter until today. My whiskey barrel planter is wooden, the pot is plastic...

New Sprout - Growing in Northern Colorado

:welcome from Central Illinois. Be sure to put your general location, like E Co, or Co Rockies, with your avatar. Visited CO about 40 times--always land in Georgetown, where DH's GM grew up--and the climates are different. Mountains get a lot more rain. I really won't remember where you live...

    What are you canning now?

MORE turkey broth canning. I started the (last) in the freezer turkey Saturday with 2 quarts of my really rich turkey broth. Before I made 1/2 gallon of gravy  I siphoned off 2 quarts of juice, cooled them down, put them on my porch (refrigerator temperature at night in March), placed...

    Baymule’s Farm

I talked to the electricians in 2022 when I was babysitting DD's house rewire, about rewiring my trailer. They said they couldn't do it bc they make the housing for the wiring so small (and out of steel) that an electrician cannot fish wires in to repair. I would pretty much have to get a...

I intend to harvest seeds from the two types of peas and from the sweet peas, whose seeds are 1/2 the diameter of the peas and black. Since last year was such a nothing for me in planting, I have Lots of old seeds that I intend to plant pretty much everywhere, really with NO purpose to harvest...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

This is a repeat on the thread, What have you planted today? This morning I planted a 2nd row of 62 sugar snap peas, 25 Mammoth Salmon Cream Sweet Peas, and a package of turnip greens, probably 100 or so seeds. I lightly covered the peas, then sprinkled the turnip green seeds on top, in...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

Yesterday I put both the 50 ft red heated hose (didn't use it this winter,) And the 100 ft blue heated hose into storage. My old burn barrel (that is a plastic trash can) that got cracks on the bottom, but has wheels, is a great place to store them until next winter. It lives in the Carriage...
