    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

Photos of above taken today, after the heavy rain watered my 3 potato pots. I drained some of it out, but this spot is under the eaves, won't get any rain, unless it's heavy and the damaged 100 gallon water tank still retains a couple of inches of water in it. Here are two tomato cages staged...

    Best Composting Tips

Smart to work Smarter, not harder. I am going to do the same, using my gasoline pump to put gas into ALL of my power equipment. I am working through a pulled right lower back muscle as I work on PT, pre July knee surgery. I have found that working on straightening out my left leg and...

What is blooming in your garden today?

I have tulips blooming, and just to the south is my Magnolia Jane with loads of flowers. I have about a dozen peach blossoms on my little 3yo Peach tree, but it will need a frost/freeze cover Monday and Tuesday night. UNfortunately the chickweed looks like IT wants to flower, too.

    stubbed toes and mud pies

First thing DD's bought after they moved in was a washer and dryer. They lived together during youngest DD's last year of law school and had had eNOUGH of a laundermat, although they got some nice t shirts from the laundermat that read: "We have your missing sock!"

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

Reported on the tablecloth and tarp covering the stones next to the house to suppress weeds AND the 3 big pots of potatoes now getting rained on in my mint bed, on the other thread. I also weeded my porcelain garlic, dug out several not so deep dandelions and a few smaller burdock, and chickweed...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

I made it inside before the t storm today. I laid out both an old plastic tablecloth--I save them for gardening when they are pretty worn out--and an old blue tarp with some holes and put them on top of the stones in the south bed of the house, which is in between the house and the sidewalk. I...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

I like to share articles that are from reputable sources. TEMU pays for first hits, and some other nonreputable sources do the same, so I like to recommend the better ones with much better gardening advice. Here is one about planting potatoes, in case this is new to you! :D...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

Went to the Post Office to check my box last night. SeedsNow Purple Majesty potatoes were there! I posed them on a dinner plate after slicing 5 seed potatoes into 12 pieces to dry first, then plant tomorrow. I cleaned out a dinner take home styrofoam container to keep them safe for travel to...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

Pat yourself on the back for any progress. :hugs I noticed today that where youngest DD dumped from the stalls last winter, just inside the around the barn turnout, it is somewhat dry and seeds from their hay have sprouted. Since I have extra hay this year, I am hoping to first till under any...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

Dunno about the 3rd rose next to the garage, but I was worried about my yellow knockout rose. Last year, the year of almost NO Duck gardening, I let those stupid, good-for-nothing blackberries bramble all over two of them. :somad:rant I looked this morning. The red rose furthest east is in...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

I was there. Dunno How he did it, but the tow truck driver pulled this out of the garage, didn't hit the other truck or the garage, lined it up and got my RAM doolie on the back and to the garage for battery service.

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

I want to mention that right now my laptop is not plugged in bc I have it downstairs and there isn't a storm surge suppressor. I am trying to be careful bc a storm fried my previous laptop, so I am writing on battery power, then I'll shut down until tomorrow. I still have 3/4 charge, of the 4...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

We are having truck troubles--both batteries are dead on the 2007 Dodge Cummins douley. I had the snowblower parked in back of it in our garage, but there was still some gasoline from February. I opened up the suction gadget that I bought at Harbor Freight last year ($12 investment), and I was...

    Your Weather, 2025

Not so bad, just some heavy rain. It was SUMMER MUGGY this afternoon! I had garage work to do, I opened up both sides, emptied the dehumidifier and it started up again. In about 30 minutes (pre rainstorm) the floor looked like it had rained inside. Low of 49 this evening. 2nd time in a week I...

Sewing and other projects, starting February, 2025

Actually it is difficult to clean and retime a sewing machine. Small intricate parts. My plumber who moved to SD told me that he always liked to install Moen or Delta, bc he could always get replacement parts. Had a hard time replacing Him.

    Restarting the garden

It depends on what you are wanting to direct seed. I need to have peas/sugar snap peas/sweet peas in the ground NOW, or they won't have enough cool weather. For ME, it's too early to put out tomatoes or peppers--not too early to direct plant potatoes. Go online and look up zone7a--I think...
