I used Alocane for a full face and neck sunburn back in April. It seemed to help a lot. Your local drug store probably has something comparable.
Also, now I wear a hat if I plan to spend much time outside.
Make sure you get regular respite care and keep your own health up. I've seen what happens to a carer who sacrifices their health for their loved one. Praying for you both.
Bean Update:
Piet Special can be conclusively labeled a pole bean. :woot The first seedling has reached the top of one 4-foot broken branch and the second seedling is twining vigorously up another broken branch. The third one has no leaves, but has not yet gone brown so I'm hoping it will pull...
So, as I was saying, about the limas . . . they seem to have pulled through even better than the washing machine only ones. Several healthy King of the Garden lima plants are coming up on the east side of my Jerusalem artichoke bed.
I've added him to my prayer list. While he is in jail awaiting execution he will be witnessed to by Christians. It's a given. I'm praying that his heart will be opened and he will repent. Powerful message to those like him, and another life spared from Hell.
The beans are out in my garden and growing. 3 each of the two surviving kinds and I have backup seed in case something happens to them.
One thing, it seems like the Solwezi bean is growing as a bush and the Piet is growing as a pole, opposite to how they were described. I'll know for certain in...
This is a first for me, I ran 1/2 of a small package of King of the Garden lima bean seed through the washing machine. :barnieHere's how I did it:
On Tuesday I planted, among about a dozen other things, half the package of lima seed in a single, well spaced, row as my last garden chore before...
Potentilla/Duchesnia indica is another option. The flowers are yellow, but possibly smaller than you want. The plants look like strawberries, as do the fruits, which are also edible.
I'm still working on 35, but have had some bad burns on my shoulders in my teens and early 20's. Spent every summer from the time I was little till the end of high school at the public pool for a couple of hours in the afternoon, and played and gardened outdoors. What do you think, wait a few...
Well, Admire Snitbonen and Mammoth Golden Cluster appear to all have rotted. The survivors will be planted out in the garden tomorrow evening. I'll plant out the pots of the 8 survivors tomorrow evening when I get home from work. Should I go ahead and plant the seeds I held back or reserve them...
Bean Report:
-The Solwezi have 2 well formed bean seedlings (the first emerged on the 16th). One is slightly etiolated from not getting enough natural light, but both seem fine and are producing the second set of true leaves. I may plant them in the garden next week. The other two I planted have...
@flowerweaver I just noticed in your last two photos the enormous patch of (seemingly) well behaved goosefoot. Are you cultivating a variety or developing one? That would be very cool, if time consuming.
The Piet Special (bush) and Solwezi (pole) are coming up. Still waiting on the Mammoth Golden and Admire Snitbonen, but this gives me hope. And there are two seeds left each of Piet and Solwezi.
No roots on the one I looked at. Didn't want to disturb the rest. It's been just a week. I think I'll return to the waiting room and my nervous pacing. ;)
Getting a bit nervous as none of the seed have sprouted yet. I removed one Admire Snitbonen seed from the pot. It is not rotten, but also showing no sign of wanting to burst forth into leaf.
I had a pussy willow start at my parents' old house that made a 15 foot tall, eight to ten foot wide tree. It thrived on the water from the ditch along the road side. Put those pussy willows where they have room to stretch and plenty of water and you'll never lack for armloads of decorative...
