    what's your winter time favorite.

Had to look these up, now I HAVE to try them! My fave winter thing is anything that I can put in the crock pot. Beef, pork, rabbit, chicken, leftover bits of these with veggies for a stew. I just love the way the house smells when something's been cooking all day and you come in out of the...

    The Flower Show

@catjac1975 how do you go about doing that? My season is short too and I just hate it when there are only a few flowers but gobs of buds that get frosted, that is why I quit growing dahlias years ago. Now I have been gifted with some and want to do the best with them that I can.

Any Uses For Crab Apple ?

We had the golfball sized crabapples when I was a kid. I remember Mom making spiced crabapples with Red Hots, super good! I bet your smaller ones would work even better, no dribbles.

    Huckleberry Bush/Tree!!!

What a wonderful find!! I had no idea huckleberries had different growth habits, or that they even grew in places other than the PNW. Yep, that's how ya find 'em and hope to pick 'em before ya fall off the mountain or get chased outta the patch by a bear!

Got a few beans from my scarlet runners before they frosted, nothing like last year tho. The box on the left is from plain pods, box on right striped pods, middle box is odd colors and latest picked. Some of the new colors include this odd light grey stone-shaped bean and two colors of...

Yep, it's been a while, and as long as it isn't anyone that knows me or knows my friends... I do my own buthering so that saves a few $ too... and now I just might have to try some BBQ on mine own! Still not sure DH would go for that, even a small pig can root some destruction on a place...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

Grandma always waited until all the plant was frosted and then she (read as: us kids) dug 'em up. Let 'em dry a few days in the barn and stored 'em under the house in straw packed boxes. She/we also dug her glads up every year. I sure miss Gramma's flowers. I don't miss Gramma's chores.

daughter freed the Eagle~and it could fly```

I used to work for ID Fish & Game. The amount of "rescued" critters by the well meaning but CLUELESS is staggering. Very rarely can these animals be rehabbed to return to the wild and shelters are a cruel solution to a wild spirit. Kudo's for helping the eagle!
