I didn't even remember starting this thread, then finally remembered what the chicken yard looked like after there were no chickens in it for a couple of years. Putting the little chicks out there, with knee high "weeds" I was a little apprehensive. But they ate them all, and now there isn't a...
I suspect I had some beans lie dormant for a year, then germinate and compete with the slow starting Fortex that I planted. Brand X was much more vigorous and took over the supports. When harvested they were fat, lumpy, tough, stringy....all the qualities you don't want. Made me a little shy...
You just have to hope that who ever gets sent out into the world will be careful of surfaces, etc. Now they are saying the virus can stay alive on cardboard for.....4 hours, I believe?
When I'm at the gym (now closed) I carry around a little stack of paper towels saturated in the disinfectant...
Hey Jared, I'm sure glad you finally got to come back on line. I bet your kids are about ready for college now. Well, maybe it hasn't been that long, but still.
Do you have spring garden plans? How has the spring been progressing in your location? It is so very wet here, I slog through standing...
When I discovered that cats were using my parents' walled entry garden for a potty, I had to clean every thing out, put down large landscape nuggets (up to 5" long) pretty thick in there, then apply hot pepper liberally on top of the nuggets. Cats didn't want to use the large unsteady wood...
Oh George, I am afraid you will be driven nuts by our inorganized and frenetic forum content. No one will blame you if you run for the hills now, before you get sucked in by a few of the nicer folks on here. Some times we just horse around, which we all need more of, these days.

I was out jogging one day and ahead of me, I saw a little old lady walking her dog. Suddenly a young guy in a hoodie ran up to her and grabbed her purse and ran off. She just glanced back at him calmly and kept walking. When I met up with her I asked her, didn't she realize that guy had stolen...
Ooh! Do you feel you are successful growing heirloom tomatoes? What kinds do best in Zone 6? How's the production? Disease susceptibility? (sorry, I ask too many questions)
Anyway, welcome to the forum!
I have been a "no till" gardener for several years. Because I just didn't have a tiller. I would dig and turn over the soil in the row by hand, then after planting, add more newspaper, cardboard and straw to the whole garden.
This method really cut down on the weeds and the need to water, but...
Speaking of worms, I found a horse hair worm today, after the rain stopped for a minute. I hadn't seen one in ....maybe 25 years. I showed it to my 4 year old grandkid and his mom. I don't know why I didn't think about taking a video, or at least a pic, but that's just me. 😵
Just about anything that would disinfect is gone from the shelves. I suggested he just spray his hands with straight vodka.
What kind of alcohol comes in 151 proof? Not a drinking alcohol, surely?
I have never liked hand sanitizers due to them clearing off the natural oil and good bacteria...
