I stumbled upon her a while back, on Facebook, I think. I really like her style and enthusiasm. Sure wish her growing conditions were a little more like mine. But they are pretty austere in many ways. (Much like yours, Steve) I shouldn't complain about mine.
Did you sign up for her newsletter?
Yes, I think that's what it is.
I remember someone making a remark about not wanting to introduce even more fungus into their garden. It appears to be something organic farmers might be interested in. Big crops. More than my teeny garden ventures.
Hello and welcome from Southeast Missouri! It sounds like you have lots of interesting things going on there. I think the suggested course of action would be to till before it freezes. For sure you will get rocks popping up. @digitS' could probably give you some pointers for your soil, as he...
@Beekissed I wish I had a good place for runner ducks. My garden fencing is probably not dog proof.
It's possible a cultivator is all I need. I need to do some reading up on these and on tillers, to see what is recommended where.
Does anyone remember the name of that new biologic insecticide that has been introduced? For beetles and many other insects. Darned expensive if I remember correctly. Not spinosad.
Oh, and for cutworms, just a little twig stuck right up next to the stem will do the trick. Biodegradable, lol.
Happy Holidays! We had our family Christmas dinner last night. Today was so pretty out, DH and I took a hike into some shut-ins that the state took over as a park a few years back. It was 70 degrees here. Saw a kid playing outside shirtless in short pants. On Christmas! o_O
Steve, your loose rocky soil sounds kind of like a dream to me, lol. We all want what someone else has, I guess. My soil has so much clay, even though I turn it every year, it still appears like it has never been turned before. Big slices of solid clay, cut with a shovel, reminds me of a big...
Regarding the kind of bugs I have problems with; mostly stink bugs, harlequin stink bugs, cabbage looper and sometimes aphids although they are controllable if I see them. It's the stink bugs and harlequin bugs that decimate my tomatoes and cole crops. (Providing they survive the cabbage...
If for adults, I'd say a gift card to a restaurant they don't go to often. For a cook, some good olive oil, vanilla, seasonings in a basket, a bottle of their favorite type of liquor but an upgrade.
For a kid, flashlight, magnifying glass, puzzles, a counting bank, legos, a chia pet...
My garden has been getting to be way more trouble than it is worth the last few years so I have been trying to figure out what is wrong. I think one thing that is a major problem is the insects that I can't seem to get rid of. I have had pretty deep mulch, added to yearly, and I think insects...
I will have a busy two days then Christmas day will be ...crickets.... But that's fine with me.
I hope you all have a fulfilling holiday. Not too busy, not lonely. No political arguments. Decent weather.
Not too much to ask, is it?☕🧁🥓 Hey, when did we get all these cool emojis?
Not sure what bobm means by that, but some antibiotics destroy the good bacteria in your digestive tract. Be sure you get some probiotics while taking antibiotics.
Also, @baymule, do you think those peanuts had msg on them? I have not had msg for so long, last time I ate at a Mexican...
I don't know if the spinosad I have has gotten too old or if I have resistant bugs in my garden, but the last couple of years it doesn't seem to have made much of a dent in the bug population. I need to check the shelf life info. And I have probably had it a couple years longer than I think.
This is only slightly off-topic here, but still in the general category. One of the articles that was mentioned suggested Botanigard, the trade name for Beauveria Bassiana. It is a botanical insecticide that is a symbiotic fungus that kills off the insects like whiteflies, grasshoppers, potato...
@flowerbug, have you ever tried the Epley Maneuver to help with the vertigo? Google it, there are several videos on how to do it at home. (Essentially, the little rocks in your head are rattling around)
I have only been to the local SS office a couple times that I remember, both time with a client whose anxiety did not lessen thanks to the cold and dictatorial manner that was used with my emotionally disturbed client. I think there was also a metal detector at the door, if memory serves me...
