I'm not a fan of obamacare at all. despite the supreme court decision, I don't believe it is Constitutional. both parties voted for it though. the gop pretended they didn't, but many of them voted to fund obamacare & thus moved it on to the senate where it was sure to pass. however...
my chickens go in pretty early. I have a few who linger around until later, waiting for the others to settle. they're bullied some & want to avoid the conflict. I have one hen who is terrified of the roosters & refuses to sleep in the coop. she's one of my originals & she sleeps in her very...
I'm shocked Texas is number 4. actually, we should probably be closer to number 1. don't tell dh I told you - but he's the big reason Texas is so high on the list. his guardian angel is soooo busy.
I've had a couple of close calls lately. haven't in years. start one thing, go to another &forget the first thing while moving on to the next.
sure glad your house didn't burn down.
hi kittykat; welcome! that's a beautiful garden you posted. I love order like that - somehow, my garden can't seem to stay orderly. the tomatoes sprawl all over the peppers, the beans crawl all over the okra & eggplant while the weeds grow like - well, you know. look forward to chatting w/you
I'm not sure I'm a fan of the new format. it's so alien. I'm sure it's because it's new - but it just doesn't move about so easy. change - who invented change?
I think any predator that is injured becomes a serious threat. they can't hunt as usual & hunger drives them to desperate measures - including up close to houses. if it's reappearing, I think it needs to be put down humanely. that's just my opinion.
now y'all stop badmouthin longhorns - especially you bay. they're the prettiest darn things ever. I'm sure if I had any - they'd be sweet & easy.
I can just see mean ole bay w/that pipe & standing probably all of 5'2 holding her ground as a 1400 lb hunk of mad bull comes in on her. now that...
taking in an old dog is such a special thing to do. you know his time is short, yet you're willing to invest yourself in his remaining days. I sure take my hat off to you. I thought he looked part great dane. glad he's got you
love this thread. I just discovered it & have read through it. I am reaching toward being able to feed my family if need be without the grocery store. I've gotten pretty good at raising the chickens & getting the eggs - not so good at killing the chickens or selling the eggs. I've also...
I so have a new appreciation for y'all who deal w/snow/ice for days/weeks at a time. I do take my hat off to you (but only briefly because I like my hat on the top of my head during this cold).
for three days now, we've had ice/snow that fell the first night, but it won't get above freezing to thaw it out - so it's slick as snot & hard as a brick. us Texans aren't too used to that. my chickens haven't gone out once. I open the door of their coop into the rest of the hoop house which...
how cute! he's got the right idea. we're having that kind of weather here. it NOT typical for us. the goats are unhappy, the chickens are unhappy, & a cat that has mental issues is unhappy.
that looks so great. ours is similar. we placed concrete blocks along the sides, filled the holes w/cement & stuck rebar in & over tying another rebar to go down to the opposite side. it leant a lot of strength. also we framed a long table on one side. we put dutch doors (plywood cut in...
I don't like sparrows or starlings either. the starlings prevent the martins from coming in & the sparrows won't let the bluebirds nest. I haven't figured out how to turn this tide.
