Hi omran! I just found this thread! I'm in Columbia, south central KY. I have been swapping seeds like a crazy person over on BYC, and I'm thinking I'll have my hands full this season! I have like 3 different types of watermelon, cantaloupe (only 1 that I know of right off!), 3 different pumkin...
What an idiot... Why haven't I thought of this? We have a ton of old tires laying around...never even crossed my mind to use them as planters!! Good luck! Now I'll have to figure out which would work best in them? Hmmmmm....maybe my strawberries? Ah, the possibilities!! :tools
The $20 certificate was on last month's catalog, but I believe you can access it directly from their site. www.gurneys.com It was on the cover of mine, and the $25 off a $50 order certificate was on the cover of this month's catalog.
I am in need of some cabbage and peanuts. Also some lettuce other than iceberg, since I already have that. Here's the list of seeds I have to trade. :)
butternut squash
yellow crookneck squash
iceberg lettuce
mixed bell peppers
broccoli
Flowers:
Alyssum (carpet of snow)
Baby's breath...
I have a few broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes, and cauliflower started in an indoor greenhouse thingy. It's only been a few days and some are already sprouted!! I have a ton of squash, pumpkin, watermelon, peppers, corn, flowers, (just about anything!) ready to go as soon as the frost danger is over...
Oh, but the $20 gift certificate is available to anyone, as far as the site shows. It is good until the 18th of March. I'm getting some grapevine for free!! :weee
I just rechecked the $25 one, and it's on orders over $50. Not a bad deal, but I'll have to do some serious checking on it!! I have so many things going in already, I don't think I could do another $50 worth!
I wasn't sure where to post this at. I had gotten a catalog from Gurney's last month, with a $20 savings certificate on the cover. I just today received another catalog with a $25 savings certificate!! Does anyone know if I can use both of them? It says that if the order is less than the value...
So we just skikp nessia? Works for me :plbb
I'll take vfem's spinach, and offer:
Veggies:

I was just reading in a gardening magazine last night that roses love coffee grounds! It says to actually plant them around the roots of the roses! Oh, and tea leaves too.
I bought two garden mum plants from walmart last year. I know these are perrenials, but how does that work? I didn't take seeds or anything, and now the area they were in is overrun (temporarily) by chickens. Do they regrow from the roots? Would the chickens have killed them?
