Nice surprise last night - rain

I am so pleased for you, but ever so jealous, we are still waiting, in the last week we have had a sprinkling, like 20 drops. :( But it's got to break soon, the heat and humidity are horrendous at the moment. We only get 2 or 3 hours in the garden early morning, after that it would be stupid.

    What People Will Pay

Amazing what people will pay, and what you can grow yourself from seed for a couple of dollars.

Supposed to be 92 degrees today

That's about the same temperatures as here, but this is normal for us, just the humidity that makes it unbearable. So much work to do, and so little time to spend outside. We desperately need rain. I have just set up my new rain catchment from the roof and want to get it filled. All our...

Middle School was selling this for a fund raiser?

If it is Lantana, I think it is a wonderful plant, I have the yellow and the pink one. My vet tells me it is posionous to the goats, but they never eat it, I think most animals know what is and is not good for them. I don't know about your area, but here is grows like a weed and self seeds all...

    Planting Sunflower Seeds

I usually soak me seeds in water for a couple of days, just find that they germinate better that way. Haven't found the chickens to be a problem yet, maybe saying that I have just tempted fate. :lau

    What do you use?

I put everything I can into my compost. All the weeds and trimmings from the garden go straight onto the compost. I don't put cooked food onto the compost, with cats, dogs, goats and chickens, we don't have that much waste. The things that go into my "ice cream counter top container" are used...

    What is this?

Thanks Hoodat, trying to identify anything here, is nigh on impossible. As you say there is very little about Belize flora and fauna. Locals tend to have there own names for things or don't know. But I will keep on searching.

    What is this?

DigistS - yes it does have square stems. Done some checking up on various mint varieties but not found anything like it yet. Will keep trying, thanks.

    Bin ideas?

Well this is my compost "enclosure". Just sticks cut from the bush with wire mesh. Wouldn't win any prizes for being pretty, but hey it's compost, or will be.

    What do you use?

I am really very sophisticated :gig Mine sits next to the sink on the counter top, I fill it during the day, empty it each morning into the compost pile, wash and refill, and it cost me quite a few dollars!!!! It's a 1 gallon empty ice cream tub. :lau

    What is this?

Not sure if the stems are square, but don't think so, I am sure I would remember if they were, but will check. Doesn't have any mint smell that I have noticed. But will now do some research. Thanks.
