I had this bug show up last year.Noticed it first in mint plants, and then saw it on other plants.I am bracing for a worse year with these and japanese beetles.
Anyone have this bug and were you able to get rid of it? Will the hens eat this...
A fence is your best option. The cheapest would be T-posts and wire fencing.Just set the posts in concrete.
We did a chainlink fence around our entire property up to the sides of the house. It is right inside the property line.I would have liked a front yard fence too,but dh said no.
Anyway,it...
I love seeing before and after(and after) pictures. What made you switch from the stone path to the turf grass?
I can't wait to get some nasts going.I like their taste and look.
I have currant bushes and strawberries in the front right now.I planted some asparagus last year. The first year I planted some amaranth(sp).I think it was the golden one,and it looked really neat.
Here is my picasa pages so you can check some things out.Every year there was something...
I planted marigolds, flax, and chives. I did not have major losses last year even though a few rabbits got in the yard.I have read that planting an area far away from the garden for the critters can help keep them from your produce. I always throw extra seeds all over the far back yard. That and...
Still raining in my part of Ohio.Usually I am the one collecting the worms on the driveway for our frogs, lol. My hens are lazy and most times they chase me around when they see I have a shovel in my hand. They wait for me to flip the soil, and then they go crazy.
I am growing beets and daikon rash this year.Got a juicer last month,so I will use those veggies. I did grow turnips last year, and added extra soil above hard clay to give the veggies room to grow. I read that alfalfa roots go deep, and help break up the soil.
I only do t-post and plastic green fence around some garden areas in the back.In the front yard I have no fence.I do have the start of a living fence with ornamental grasses, but it certainly won't keep out the critters.
I am anxious to plant seeds, but it is way to early for outdoor planting here in Ohio unless I get some that need cold strat. I am starting to move bushes around.Flip dirt and add compost.Still cleaning up debris from last year.
I have 3 red sex link hens that I got last year from TSC in May.I started getting eggs in September. The hens laid all winter despite being in a rather dark and uninsulated metal shed. There were a few days where I only got 2 eggs, but that was on warmer days,so it could just be the hen not...
My dh got me a semi truck tire and rim.Was going to use the rim for a fire pit,but it was painted.I ended up filling them with soil by a swing/arbor,and put in some grape plants. The area floods so I needed a raised bed,and the plants get plenty of water from the soil.
Nice pics.I like the trellis. That would be great for my raspberries or grapes with some eye hooks and wires going across. As soon as it dries up a bit I am going to start taking pictures too.
I ordered from them one time .I was charged 2 times on my credit card for the same order. It took weeks to get a credit, and they were very rude about it.Average growth from seeds.
My dh just wants to see the end result at the dinner table, lol.Atleast this year I may be getting a green house.Nothing fancy just a harbor frieght one.But dh liked the idea of more edibles early and late in the season.
Nice pictures.I want to put my strawberry plants around the house too.First I have to dig out the river rock mulch that was installed by the previous owners.Love edibles. In the 30's here today and rain so no yard work.
I have a front yard garden. It varies what I put in but I have had tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, asparagus, chives.I moved in some fruits so I have currant bushes, raspberries, and strawberries.
This year I want to move things around and also add some more ornamental grasses to create a border...
