I just made zucchini and blueberry bread...yum....
Zucchini from the garden, the blueberries from Meijer (they came from Michigan so not too much of a drive :hu )
You all had wonderful ideas :thumbsup
I thought I would offer whatever she picks is hers, that way she'll be a little more inclined to check on it-
Give specific instructions, as I do with everything else (I'm a just a *little* anal)
I need to remember they are only plants & the Farmers...
We have our garden surrounded with chain-link fence (to keep the dog out) and wrapped with chickenwire (to keep the rabbits out). All of the fencing is staked into the ground, so the dog and bunnies can't get underneath. Well, that was the plan at least, my dog decided to pull the stakes out...
I think its adorable! I agree with others make it a sitting area as well and the landscaping you have done has really brightened it up to appear more "homey." Its amazing what some flowers and landscaping can do & I hope you are getting used to it. Its a great coop and set-up :thumbsup
My fam and I are going on vacation next Monday. We'll be returning Friday but I have to have my sister-in-law "babysit" my garden, chickens and dog. Now, I have all the confidence in the world that she'll do my dog and chickens right. My garden, however, is another story

What has been your best gardening investment?
This year, it was a nice pair of clearanced, yellow gardening gloves with the sticky stuff on the outside, to help pull weeds :thumbsup
Next year, I have a feeling it will be gettting my soil tested
I think your are soooo right! I left for a weekend trip and just returned...my eggplants are now succumbing :rant
I give up...I'm having my soil tested before next year to figure out what the h*ll is going on before I lose my gardening mind :somad
Oh, by the way...what is "nute burn"...
I need some professional opinions (that means you guys of course!). What the heck is going on with my tomato plants, I'm noticing this:
Is it fungus? Any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated...thanks :frow
Here is a pic of mine from today...one other plant is affected as well :somad
This wilt occurs within hours, they become extra-wilty after the sun, but never perk back up. If yours are perking back up in the evening hours, after the sun goes down, I'm sure they are fine.
I have to brag, my dh chopped down a weird tree next to my garden a few days ago. I went out there during the peak sun-hours and realized I have an additional 5*20 area to till-up and cultivate next year :weee
Its going to be my cucumber garden, I've had terrible luck w/bacterial wilt and need...
Living in a state of denial when I noticed my cucumber plants appeared to be weak...they had bacterial wilt and I lost almost my whole crop :he
Next year, I will trust my gut-instincts!
So far so good still...3 plants remaining :fl
I'm going to move mine next year and trellis them as well, using the "teepee" style of trellis..you are so right about planting a fall crop...I'm going to start looking for some plants...thanks!
Again, you are making my mouth water :drool Thanks for the tips on preperation too :D
I would mourn the demise of such a fabulous restaurant as well. I suffer from a nut allergy and to have a restaurant where good food is served, that won't kill you (literally) is a rare-find. I'm so sad...
Ugh, I just knew something was going on :he The leaves on my cukes began to appear wilty, but I attributed it to the sun (I was in denial). Last year, wilt took all of my cukes except for one lonely plant. I'm so sad, I was really looking forward to pickles this year :barnie But I broke a...
Hattie the Hen you totally rock! Thanks so much for the sites :clap
Just reading your recipe makes my mouth water :drool
You owned a restaurant?!? I bet it was delish :thumbsup Thanks again :)
I have started my own canning binder with this site:
