    tomato plants from seeds

I used an old heating pad wrapped in a pillow case. It doesn't turn itself off (a perk of using something very, very old found at a garage sale!). I also put water in the bottom, so that they would "bottom feed" nice warm water. Seems to be working--pics soon.

    Trellis ideas?

We do all of our gardening in raised square bed gardens, but ran into problems last year with climbing plants (we have the kind with the "lid" that goes over-see photo). Anyone have any ideas? If push comes to shove I might just conatiner garden the climbers, but wanted to see wht you clever...

    tomato plants from seeds

I am in New Mexico-pretty decent growing season (and 7-ish), but this year I decided to grow from seed for the fun and variety. Mine are going like gangbusters-started inside as early as Feb with grow light on 12 hours per day, on a heating pad set at medium, soil kept moist, not wet.For the...

    Garden in Front Yard

I was contemplating the front garden, too. I love the asthetics-my worry is people with thinking it is a salad bar. So for the first year, I was thinking of planting only freakishly hot chili peppers. That should let me grow some for my BIL (who can't seem to get a pepper hot enough for his...

    White fuzz...

They are in the sunlight (from a south facing window), but I fear it may not be enough. The lights can't hurt, can they?;) I'll try the chamomile tea, and see how things go....I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a lost cause.

    White fuzz...

I am having the worst luck with this seed business!!:( So I have the seeds in a tray, heating pad underneath, keeping moist to the consistancy of a wrung out sponge, grow lights on about 18 hours a day. Unfortunatly, before I did away with the dome (which evidently was trapping too much...

    Grow lights

OK,I give. In my deep rooted fear of legginess ("rooted", Ha! Get it??!! :P) I broke down and got some grow lights. Question-how many hours do I set the timer for? 12 hours of light?

    Spring Tree Treats?

Hmmm. I need to find some and get a sprayer. Question-the recipe calls for a bit of insecticidal soap. I can't seem to find anything like that. Might I use dish soap and the neem will be the insecticidal part??:hu

    Aww. crud

Hattie-great advice. I love the time difference ( it is 1:00 in the am here). I can always count on my British friend to answer my dumb questions in the middle of my night! OK-I will DC the whole dome thing. I might leave the heating pad on very low, as the seeds are in a guest room that stays...
