I transplanted my tomatoes into pots and now they are out in the greenhouse. The peas and lettuce seeds that I planted last week are all sprouting. Tonight I'll be planting onions.
Yesterday I ordered peanuts (first time trying), strawberries and a gooseberry plant. Can't wait for them to...
I've never bought any, however I have heard that once they run out of things to eat in your garden they will move on to the next garden with pests. You can plant flowers that they like to hide out in such as asters, coneflowers, sunflowers and yarrow and that may keep them happy enough to stay...
For my raised beds I just put down wet newspaper before I added the dirt. I usually put about 3 or 4 layers so that it kills the grass underneath. Eventually it will break down, but by then the grass will be gone.
They look great wsmoak! I understand about not wanting to kill any of them because of extras in the pot. I did a video for my Master Gardener meeting and at one point during the video I had to get rid of extras :( and my husband said that I sounded upset when I did it. I was!
I do my rows running north to south to take full advantace of the morning & afternoon sun. However you have large trees on the south side. Do you know if they are large enough to completely shade the garden? Remember the garden needs atleast 8 hrs of sunlight.
People laugh at me when I tell them this, but it works for me. Pretend that your the wind as your seedlings grow. In other words gently pass your hand over the tops of the seedlings. This will make their stems stronger.
I never had to tent my plastic wrap. As soon as I see the first few seedlings emerge I remove the plastic wrap. You don't want to leave the plastic wrap any longer then that or else you may have fungus growing on your seedlings.
