My tomatoes are taking 'forever' to ripen.

@Chris- the fruit and leaves get full sun from about 8am to 6:30/7pm. Never had the soil tested but the soil in our area is known to be very rich. Pebbles- same thing here! Long cool spring, but normal summer. I'm thinking it had something to do with the cooler weather, because now that the heat...

My tomatoes are taking 'forever' to ripen.

I don't know how anyone else's plants are doing but I have plenty of tennis ball sized green tomatoes. My neighbor told me so far he's only had one ripe tomato, my sister in law has got the same problem. The only one of us having any luck is my mother in law. I'm not using any food, much or...

    Good bug or bad bug?

Those are some great pics. If you have the larvae on your plants It's a good sign. Lady bugs will lay their eggs in Aphid populations and the larvae will eat up to 400 Aphids apiece. There are probably more eggs to hatch :D

My watermelons arent coming in as fast as I thought?!

Thanks guys. I've just been looking around my garden and my pumpkin plants are HUGE and are already starting to bloom, my tomatoes are shooting up and out faster than I can tie them lol, and they're producing fruit, which I thought because of the weather would take a little longer. I guess this...

My watermelons arent coming in as fast as I thought?!

Hi all. Haven't posted in a while but I'm back this year with a bigger garden. Last year I just had late pumpkins, but this year I have corn, jack-o-lantern and pie pumpkins, tomatoes, strawberries, and crimson sweet watermelon. I started my garden April 12-13 (I'm in zone 8b) and everything is...

Can anyone answer some Pumpkin questions?

Thanks. The weather out here is great, and there's tons of space for gardening. We're kinda out in the middle of nowhere, but I love it. Everyone has vegetable gardens, fruit trees and chickens. Things that I've always wanted myself, but never really had room or time for in town or the city...

    Moths!! Homemade Moth Catcher?? Suggestions?

I don't know what to do about moths, but I've got some myself. I'm not overrun with them, but I've noticed something has munching on my pumpkin leaves. I was going to try a simple soap solution but don't know if it'll work. It's worked great on for keeping bugs off my flowers, but this is my...

Can anyone answer some Pumpkin questions?

I have a soaker hose woven around them to keep the ground moist. I was watering everyday, but the ground would dry up and crack in a matter of hours. Plus I hear it's best to water from below. It's literally just enough to keep the soil moist without puddles.

Can anyone answer some Pumpkin questions?

Thanks. I was definitely hoping to hear that. I would really like to harvest for Halloween and most people around here started their gardens a little later than usual because of the rain storms we were having. The mold got to some of our rose bushes in April and really did a number on them, so...

Can anyone answer some Pumpkin questions?

Dusty, San Ardo, California. The crops love it, but the cars hate it. I know they're growing at an accelerated rate, and I have yet to fertilize or use any special food, but they're in the sun almost all day and we're in for another heat wave the next couple weeks. Thanks for the help. How well...

Can anyone answer some Pumpkin questions?

I'm a first time grower of pumpkins and google only offers so much information. I'm in zone 8b and sowed my seeds directly into the ground four weeks ago. It was a little later than planned but we had a very wet and cold spring. They're growing very nicely and all have 5-6 true leaves but no...
