HR 875 Anyone else Freaked Out by this??

Here's my question.... if we are going to be so regulated on our gardening then how can the white house have a 1100sf garden & plan to serve guests food from it without all the paperwork? I mean if we have to fill out all the paperwork to use our produce wouldn't they? Plus i know that the...

    Gardening with small children

I truly do not mind my children getting dirty, but there are times when we are going other places that they need to stay clean & maybe that was all your nephews mom was doing. So don't take it personal. At least he knows you are a fun aunt & itsn't that what is important?

    Berry seeds?

Okay Pat, so what you are saying is that I need to wait until it cools back off again for everything but the strawberries? We are already in the 80-90's for temps here, the nights are still in the 50's though(although not for long). I was planning on the other berries in a few yrs anyway, as...

    Berry seeds?

Ok I got seeds for strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries & cranberries(as a gift for buying the others). Now what do I do with them? Will they be okay to plant this yr or do I need to get them started in big pots to transplant for next yr? Never grew berries before, much less...

adding clay to sandy soil. good idea? bad idea?

I am the exact opposite of your situation. We have clay soil, so I add organic matter & sand to mine to help it out. I would experiment with one section & see if it helps, I can't imagine it wouldn't work. But better to see what ratio works the best that way then doing the whole thing &...

HR 875 Anyone else Freaked Out by this??

My understanding after reading the long boring language is it really is aimed more at dairy producers(raw), but it does include small scale produce too. There are people who do not understand that the health issues with milk hit during the industrial revolution, when dairies moved their...

    More Seeds!!

My honeydew climbed the garden fence one year & I did not support the melons & they were just fine. Last year one of my cantaloupes climbed up & thru a tomato cage & the melons were fine without support just hanging there. Now watermelons since they are so big I think I would support them.

    Gardening with small children

My dd(almost 3) is loving digging in the garden, so far she has not dug anything up she is not supposed to. She likes to help cover the seeds back up. Now it will be a matter of when it is time to start weeding will she pull the plants instead of the weeds.

We bought a Troy Bilt "Pony" that has a 5hp motor in 95 after the tiller attachment on my dads garden tractor broke. We bought a new motor for it this yr but got upgraded to a 5.5hp one in the process. Only reason dh bought the new one is he plans to rebuild the old one(piston trouble he said)...
