Good one
Its my first time too. I thought my plants were a failure. I planted them in an area that I put chicken poo in and it stunted the growth of a lot of my garden. Shoot, I planted these way back in Feb. All of a sudden they have just taken off like crazy.
I's has a couple of Egg Plants growing on one of the plants. I am eggcited. I wonder if I share them with the chickens will they lay more eggs?
I am just letting them go. This is my first year. I planted 2 patches. One I planted in a soil mix with well composted horse manure and the other I planted in 100% well composted horse manure. Believe it or not the 100% well composted horse manure patch is doing far better. The weird thing is...
I guess I've gotten lucky. My ducks walk right by one of the watermelon patches on their way to the pond and dont ever pay the watermelon vines any attention. Yes, Its very hot right now. Well, good luck on that summer crop.

I have not made watermelon wine yet. This will be my first attempt when these melons mature. Watermelon wine is supposed to be one of the toughest to make because watermelon must (must=fruit juice being used to make the wine) tends to spoil quickly. I have purchased a yeast...
I counted 40 watermelons today and there are still tons of little flowers. I am hoping for over 80 of them. I cant believe how well they are doing. I have two patches. The patch that gets more sunlight is doing better than the one that only gets about 6 hours of sunlight a day but even it is...
momofdrew, was there a comment in there somewhere?
Ope, never mind, I finally saw all the smileys laughing at me at the top of your post. My bad. I am glad I was able to make someone smile today. It is kinda funny huh?
Folks, let me tell yall a little story about a guy in his first year gardening. He's 41, white, recently divorced, no job and not planning on getting one for a while. Dont worry, he aint on the welfare rolls either. He just has it like that. Anyway, he's kind of stupid. He apparently dont know...
I've been growing those little bitty yellow squashes and have been getting a decent amount. One plant never would give any squashes up. Well I went to pick squashes today and I looked at that plant and there is this big ole (8 inches) zucchini plus a little one. I says to myself-"self, how did...
Sorry to hear about your garden loss. Isnt that strange, we are at least 3 inches into a mini drought situtation here in Houston and yall have more rain that you want. Weird.

Well, while I was tempted I thought better of it. One was a year old calf that I swear would have been perfect at the butchers. Neighbors are neighbors though even if they are careless or thoughtless. I will put up a fence . I only have to fence one long side and one short side. I've already got...
No, they are in the main yard with the potatoes. I had the good sense to close that gate when I went off to find the owner of the bovines. While I was tracking him down is when they ate my corn. . It gets worse, I didnt realize it when I was looking at my watermelon plants because they were all...
