    Container gardening

There are actually wrought iron supports that go from my railing to the balcony above - the property manager told me when I moved in that they can be used as plant supports. That is such a good idea!!

    Container gardening

Vegetables- "salad", maybe root veggies of some kind. I am thinking squash and watermelon are out; but I was hoping I could tomatoes, peppers, greens, maybe carrots or potatoes. I can come up with another tote if need be,but then I am out of space altogether. Gotta love living in an apartment...

    Container gardening

I no longer have a yard, so I am limited to patio gardening. I want to grow vegetables. I have a plastic tote, 45 gallons, 36" x 21" x 19". What - and how much - could I realistically grow in there?

    A "SILENT SPRING" update.

Rachel Carson was so far ahead of her time it's almost scary. What's scarier, is that her warnings were not heeded. She was truly a visionary.

    Christmas Decorations

Why are people on these sites not allowed to be different? Does everyone have to LOVE Christmas? I think it is perfectly acceptable to not like it and to say so. EVeryone has things they don't like. That does not mean they are negative or miserable They are just different from you. Why are...

    Traditions

I think people should do what makes them happy. It's not sad that I realized that following other people's traditions didn't make me happy; no different from you realizing that it does. We are all different.

    Traditions

I do not like the whole family tradition thing. I treat holidays like every other day - except, if I am lucky, I get a day off from work. I don't want to spend it following someone else's rules. I just do what I please. It makes me happy. I used to try to do the whole holiday...

    ASPIRIN for plants

Thanks for that link. That is a cool site. Although aspirin is not organic, I don't put it in the same category with chemical pesticides. It's not organic, but I don't think it will leave residual toxins in my food.

Jackpot on free plants! I just hope it isn't too late!

I have a Community Supported Agriculture share and my at my first pickup I told my sad story of how the groundhogs ate all of my plants. They gave me 6 heirloom tomato plants; 12 swiss chard plants, and about a half dozen assorted pepper plants. I thought that was great. You hit the jackpot...
