you know, I havent been to the state fair, tho I always keep meaning to go.
I believe they moved it to July last year.
I hear all kinds of things about the fair, from great to terrible.
I especially hear if you want to go with kids/family to go during the week during the day.
I know theres...
Im sorry but this is the coolest thing I have ever seen.
I am going to try to grow 2 of these and then design a nice patio around them.
Says it takes roughly 10 years to grow something like this, I got plenty of time.
Where I live, lots of people walk their dogs and ride their bikes and go...
Wow, I had forgot I posted this. Come back to 3 pages! Nice.
So my fruit tree came from Dave Wilson Nursery which is not too far from where I live here in Ca,
I still havent found any evidence of these things producing fruits.
But who knows, right...
All i can do is try.
This is Dave...
Saw them at the local nursery and they looked real good, to me anyways...
I picked one up and its been in the ground since late january.
Ive seen lots of videos on youtube of people planting these things, but cant seem to find anybody that has actually grown one to production with evidence that...
Hi everybody, been a nice short and easy winter here in the middle of Ca, looking more and more like spring each day, even if we got rain forecasted this week...
Time to start thinking about some projects that need doing.
I know nothing about hedges other than the fact that I need one that...
Its a Celestron Hand-held USB microscope model #44300
20-400x magnification
clicks pics but not videos(tho I believe they make a video model too)
I suggest getting yourself a usb extension cord because this needs to be plugged in to the computer to work(again, there prolly is a wireless model...
Yes, they damaged the plant leaves. I thought the vines were just dying, but I noticed some dirt-like crustiness on the upper leaves where dirt couldnt possibly get to.
Took the leaf inside to the usb microscope and thats what I found on the underside.
To my naked eye, these all look like little...
Thanks for that pic digits, looks like they are in fact aphids.
They look really different than last time tho...
The last ones I was able to get a pic with my camera phone, these ones are much too small to be photographed this way.
I WANT TO BE CERTAIN THESE ARE NOT SPIDER MITES
Found these guys on the underside of my cantalope plant, Its not really growing anymore so I pulled it.
But I still have other plants I dont want these guys to get into...
I sprayed everything down with really soapy water also.
I have only seen these on the one cantalope plant.
I guess they...
Lets just say that Im not exactly sure this is going to work....
The melon is kinda boxy, but not like in the youtube videos...
The plastic wasnt as strong as I thought, and Im afraid to put them in the glass tanks now...
Maybe Ill just try the cinderblock method...
So I did not end up buying the ladybugs...
Yesterday I sprayed again with the dishsoap(I dont have plain garlic right now, so I didnt add any) and water, and also cut off the most heavily infested blossoms.
Today I see very few aphids.
Ill keep up the spraying until I see none.
Im having the same dilema.
I hand pollinated about 20 of them, but I know my containered plant cant handle that many.
I think Im gonna remove more than half and leave myself with say 6-8.
Im also going to make sure there is not more than 2 on each individual vine.
I staggered the pollination...
I sprayed them with water and dishsoap, but they havent budged.
Tho I only see them on this one pumpkin plant, I have alot of other valuable plants that I do not want them on.
Itsa nice day, the weather is not too hot, so Im jumpin on the beach cruiser and riding 0.9 miles to my nursery and...
I only have found them on my pumpkin blossoms, and usually only the young green ones at that...
They dont move much, even when touched.
Do I need to go buy some ladybugs?
ok, this is the same one today on saturday, and is doing the best so far as far as getting square.
Its flat on the bottom, and is slouching into itself, becoming stockier by the day.
The other ones are a mix, some are starting to grow more like this, but the biggest actual melon is just...
Hey wow, thanks for the enthusiastic response!
Lemme just remind everybody, this is the first time Ive ever even grown a watermelon, and add to that the fact that Im doing it in 5g containers that are already mostly roots.... we might not even get to the end of this project :(
My buddy told me...
