as a quick update, the pepper has really taken off in the last few days. It seems like the flowers are developing slowly compared to my small peppers. Its starting to look like this could balance out.
I just started an herb garden, but i cheated. I bought some grown plants from the nursery. I am however going to be attempting chives on my own.
I've never had success with small seeds, including lettuce. I'm hoping to break the trend. But anywho...
I have anise, two types of oregano, one with...
I've read that potatoes grow on the roots nearest the top of the ground. Some people use a mound technique, but i have also read of a method of planting the tomato in a ditch. As the plant grows, you go about filling the ditch in. This supposedly stimulate new roots to grow in from the stem...
I failed last season too. I live in the tropic though so i have a good jump on this season already.
last season i was a total newb and I over estimated my ability, under estimated the needs of my plants, and over stretched myself by biting off more than i could chew at once. I've bitten off...
I've got about 30 chickens, when they are loose they don't even let most kinds of weeds grow. only the woody ones or the ones with nasty odors survive my army of layers. they are penned up pretty securely now though.
As for getting bell peppers to sprout. i honestly have no advice. i have no...
LoL
Naw its been two weeks since i last put down a chemical fertilizer. I water on the schedule I put forth.
I think thats what I'll do, wait and see. At worse it'll be a learning experience.
I have some bell pepper plants whose growth has been stunted by my chickens (now caged). there are only a few fullsized leaves and the stem is thinner than a pencil. I've fertilized and water at least once a day, twice when its really hot and sunny (no clouds). Its about 2 months old at this...
I sowed some seeds two days ago and they have sprouted this morning. i found the unlabeled seeds at the bottom of my dresser drawer. I don't know what they are, but judging by the shape of the sprouts they are tomato or possibly a pepper variety.
The problem is that they have emerged from the...
I'm originally from Massachusetts, so I'm familiar with the -10s and winters where you cant even see the ground. I miss it to an extent, but I busy myself being able to plant year round.
Completely off topic:
I found some coffee "seed" i purchased last year. I failed miserably, never garnering...
I started tomatoes from seed this year. I live in the tropics so frost is NEVER an issue for me. My greatest worries are harsh winds and heavy rain, and my pets and layers. last year my tomatoes failed miserably because my chickens ate every last flower and then some kinda white fungus did the...
yeah. The problem is there is so much of this type of land. 1/3 of my property is about 5,000sq m. Its not HUGE, but its sizable. The chicken habitat is in a small section of this land further from the house.
After more excavation I have found that about 6 inches under the extremely hard...
About 1/4 of my property is dry, rock hard ground. The numerous ancient avacado and mango trees make it so.
There are open plots of land between trees that are unusable because the ground is solid, dry, and shaded.
Inquisitive ol me with all my free time started a project to attempt to grow on...
My father is working on making ethanol from breadfruit. We have two massive trees in our yard that give hndreds of fruit a year. They are very starchy and have a texture like potatoes, and very little financial value.
the only problem is that ethanol is essentially shine, and the ATF and FBI...
Well I live in puerto rico, and the island used to be very agro.
When the US government came here in the 50's they gave the people welfare. That was the first blow to the agro community here. In the 70's the government started mandating the use of certain pesticides and chemical fertilizers on...
