Well digitS' that's what I'ma plannin on doin, since I wasn't bright enough to NOT plant the maters in the ground in there, just don't know what I was thinking :idunno . Thankyou for the tip of just turning on the pump. I just got some awesome melon seeds from wifezilla that I want to start...
Hey Wifezilla didn't you notice my pretty pink crocs today? I wear mine all the time, I'm with you lesa, I just don't care much anymore and to boot I wore my overalls with my pink crocs!! Oh for shame!! Guess I have lived in the country too long :idunno Hey at least I washed my crocs 'fore I...
Well today and the next 4 days heat won't be my issue as our high tomorrow will be maybe 40 but by Tuesday we will be warming back up. I figure I will get the hang of this but here in Colorado that sun can do some serious heating quickly. I'm thinking shade cloth and definatly using the swamp...
Ok hot is not always good for a tomato, it gets very hot very quickly in a greenhouse/hoophouse, major duh moment for me. We have been so busy we just haven't had time to get the windows done, well it got 100 degrees in there :ep even leaving the door open and a fan going. I thought I may...
We are on the prairie, full sun, full wind all the time. The Russian Sage will do well once established, love lies bleeding and yarrow also do well. Clematis does very well for me but I do water it. I have chamomile (german) coming up everywhere watered or not and summer savory same thing, I...
I know that there are some Xeriscaping gardens in Colorado Springs that are done by the Colorado Springs Utilites Dept
www.csu.org/environment/xeriscape/where/index.html
That may be too far for you to travel but there may be some ideas on the site you can use. Hope that helps :)
Thnkyou. I just came in from the greenhouse it is 52 deg inside, which is great since it is 31 with 3 inches of snow on the ground :barnie Colorado is nothing if not unpredictable. So as to the heat factor and growing tomatoes in there all summer---- It got up to 90 in there yesterday while...
Still need to put bricks in walkway and rear windows in but I did plant my tomatoe's that i started in Feb and I think they are happy to be in the earth :celebrate. DH and I are not builders of any kind, but we have had fun :woot . 99% of the wood is recycled from pallets, so while I will have...
Hooray for the peppers :weee :weee. They are just SO slow. Some of mine are still just the first two leaves and they have been up for 2 weeks :rant.
I'm very happy today I found 100-100yr old bricks for the floor of my greenhouse, it is really more of a hoop house I guess but any way I only...
You buy them although I have seen some articles online about making your own with soda bottles. I think they are about 8.50 for three so could get pretty pricey if you have a bunch of plants. I kept buying some for about 3 years so I ended up with quite a few... They do work really well, we...
lesa
I'm gonna jump in here and suggest that you use walls o water for your tomatoe's they will protect to about 28 deg I believe. I have used them for years and I keep them on all season just roll them down as the plants grow--- use them for your peppers as well, they work wonderfully :rainbow-sun
warmfuzzies yes taters can take awhile. It seems last year I planted mine in March and they took about 3 or 4 weeks. As long as the soil isn't too cold and wet they won't rot so you should be fine, it is so hard to be patient huh? :happy_flower
Oh my goodness I'm just bringing my day of gardening to a close and I'm done for :th .
Hattie everything karanleaf said about the peppers is true for me also. This is the first year I started from seed and they are so very slow... I ended up putting a heat lamp in the room, one of the red...
It is warm and finally NO Snow in our forcast (this week anyway) :fl . Yesterday peas went in and worked in the greenhouse. Today potatoes and beets are going in and tomatoes are going to spend the day in the greenhouse, still need to finish the ends this weekend then they can stay out, will...
Oh watermelon pickles :drool those are my favorite ever since I was little. But they are expensive to buy in the store. Thank you farmerlor for posting your recipe, I'm growing watermelon and cantalope this year.
Well I just looked out at my garden and it is doing pretty good I'd say-----instead of the 8 in of snow it had this morning it has melted down to about 2 in :weee . It is suppose to be in the 70's by Monday so I'm thinking the taters are going in mid to end of week.
I read this on one of the garden sites as a help for damping off and it worked for me. Steep 1/4 c chamomile flowers in 2 cups hot water let cool to room temp and strain lightly spray your seedlings at the first sign of anything white on your growing median. I saw some fungi stuff and did this...
I had plans to put my peas in after working on the greenhouse that was until I walked face first into a 2x4 cross beam on the end of the greenhouse :th , the same one I had just ducked under not 30 seconds before. Once my nose quite bleeding it seems I have a pretty good headache, and bending...
Hey wyoweed, I feel for you I'm in Colorado so we will see the storm late Thursday into Friday and Sat. We were so dry all winter and now it is making up for it. My mantra is now "patience Spring will come" and I just keep saying it over and over :he .
