It is a Brandywine. I weighed it in a 2 lbs. exactly. It's not the prettiest thing, since it was so wedged inbetween the vine and cage.
Do you ever have a problem with cut worms getting to your tomatoes or peppers. :thun
This is as cheap of a deterent as you can get.
Take your emplty cardboard toilet paper holder and cut one side lengthwise. Wrap the stem of the tomato/pepper plant like like you are putting a collar around it...
I don't know if this has been suggested, but Tennessee has a gardening magazine that is specific to the state. Yours probably does too. Try googling State-By-State Gardening. It has features about veggie and flower gardening, region by region and plants suited for your zone(s).
Lowe's clearance is how I landscaped around my greenhouse last year. I got some really good deals on perennials and WOW did they perform well this year.
Although this year the deals aren't as good.

Yea, pack the jar with cabbage to within about 1" of the rim. Put the salt on the cabbage in the jar. It will disolve as you pour the water over it. That's it. Put in a cool, dark place (back of a closet, pantry, cellar) for about 6 weeks.
I promise, his is the best I have ever had.
I'm timing mine to mature around the middle of Oct. Just check the seed packets for days to maturity. The brussels, broccoli and cauliflower do best in cool weather (hottest days below 70) They are actually sweeter if they get a couple of light frosts on them.
